Default Leipzig Set for Big Event in 2008

May 16th, 2008, 08:08
Bluesnews posts a link to an update on the state of the big European game convention traditionally held in Leipzig, Germany. Leipziger Messe is apparently geared up for one of its largest showings ever in what's been said to be the GC's final year in that city before changing locations to Cologne under different leadership:
GC 2008 organisers reveal registrations are up on last year for the 7th games fair.

The co-ordinators of Games Convention 2008 have revealed attendance is set to beat the levels set in 2007…
Wolfgang Marzin, Leipziger Messe’s CEO, remarked: “Registration figures for the GC 2008 are already considerably higher than last year. This and the large number of foreign exhibitors underline the importance attributed to Leipzig’s GC."

The games fair will house more than 500 exhibitors, in an area covering 115,500 square metres and the organisers promise more than 250 world, European and German titles will be exhibited at the event this year.
More information.

And E3 was too expensive and not worth while? It's too expensive and non productive to keep E3 going, but many of the complaining companies will be attending these two shows (and don't forget the similar show in Tokyo)?! So now we have the E3 'Summit' which, so far, has failed and which more and more companies are deciding not to attend. The large trade shows build hype, excitement and add glamor to the gaming business. The last E3 'Summit' did none of that. The whole summit went by without most of the gaming world noticing. The only people who got excited were GameSpot and G4(I can't imagine the amount of money spent on drugs to keep the G4 reporters high enough to appear 'excited').

Will the ESA ever get a clue?!

What's really needed are some BIG Aussie gaming conventions that Dhruin and I can get invited to with all expenses paid!!

If God said it, then that settles it!!
