They said from their time with the game, it had a lot to offer, true choices and consequence that would affect the appearance, story, world around you, and be recorded by the traveling bard.
Gamespot is ussualy not completely of with their best of show awards!
I have to say I am curious of FAble 2 now.

So am I.
But not because of any preview though. I really enjoyed the orginal fable. Artistic style and this fairytale theme felt really fresh after all those serious and dark themed fantasy rpgs. One of the most unique aspects of fable was the whole character building thing. The main character literally changed during the game. I can't wait to see them taking it to an other level in fable 2.
Sadly fable had those shortcomings. Narrow gameworld, too many hack n slash quests and linear storyline were probably the biggest flaws. So if all that what they say is true..the sequel could really suprise the whole rpg audience.
