Interplay - Website Launched
September 24th, 2008, 02:53
Interplay has launched a new wesbsite, complete with forums - although gone are the glory days of the old Interplay boards. The official announcement touts the hiring of Chris Taylor, although the mention of "other original Fallout team members on staff at Interplay’s internal game studio" is news to me:
Interplay launches new web site; adds Chris Taylor to growing development team.More information.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA, Setember 22, 2008 – Interplay Entertainment Corp. (OTC BB:IPLY) announced today the launch of an all-new web site at www.interplay.com.
The site, developed over the last several months, is designed to improve the company’s communication with customers, investors, and partners. The new site includes forums based on past and future Interplay games, a customer support section, detailed information on the company and its products, and much more.
The company also announced that Chris Taylor, a game designer who was a part of the original Fallout game development team at Interplay in 1994, has rejoined the company. Taylor will serve as Lead System Designer for “Project V13,” the working title of Interplay’s next generation Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMO) currently in development. Taylor joins other original Fallout team members on staff at Interplay’s internal game studio, which recently opened an office in Irvine, Calif. Additional development staff members continue to be hired as the project ramps-up.[/COLOR]

The newsbit is unreadable for the dark style. Too much black text color.
There is no support for the old D&D games anymore. They are also not listed in their portfolio.

The old D&D games rights were sold off if I remember right.
Hmm..the website features a poll listing MDK as an original creation of there's. Wasn't MDK developed in Europe? It was a breakout game for development there if I remember correctly, so this claim doesn't sound right. If anyone can confirm this…

Interplay… that brings back fond memories of good games. I wish them luck with whatever they are doing.

"Project V13" is pretty obviously Fallout Online, to which Interplay kept the rights after selling Fallout to Bethesda. See:

Jason Anderson perhaps?

Still, Chris joining "the other members" implies that there must be at least one aside from Chris and Jason.

I'm glad to see these guys breathing again. Their Irvine offices are right here where I live, in Orange County, (it's not Oklahoma — I know).
Years ago I bumped into an Interplay dev at a mall video-games store, and he mentioned what he did for a living. I was about to buy a new computer, so I asked him for advice on graphics chips (he recommended Nvidia's TNT2, iirc). I loved the card and became an Interplay fanboi.

Oh, I wish I had a river I could skate away on. But it don't snow here. It stays pretty green. I'm going to make a lot of money, then I'm going to quit this crazy scene. — [Joni Mitchell]
