Diablo 2 - v1.13 Patch Update

On the Test Realms "soon" is the comment from Blizzard's Bashiok on the 1.13 patch for Diablo II:

Work commences on patch 1.13. We won't be providing any information on when the patch will be available, except that we expect the PTR to be available "soon". We will provide some amount of warning very, very shortly before the PTRs become available. Please keep in mind that any number of factors could delay the start of the PTR and ultimate release of the patch. Thanks for being patient, we're getting close now.

What is a "PTR" ? Is that a synonyme for "patch" in general ?

Public Test Realm, it's a separate server where Blizzard apply the upcoming patch for everyone to test.

Blizzard has, like a lot of large companies do, adopted the attitude that everyone *must* know what all their business acronyms mean. Clearly when you do not, you're not one of the 'cool kids.'

Or maybe they figure if you're reading a post on their Diablo II forums, you either 1) already know what the PTR is due to the months of 1.13 discussion on said forums, or 2) are connected to the internet and can google.
