WRONG WAY!!!

AFTER I AQUIRED IT. I JUST BOUGHT THE DANG THANG (good to know that used car/spacecraft salesmen are the same throughout the univers)
It seems that our powers of observation need a lot of help. That was definatly a lemon.

At least we got 70 bucks off for the next one.

This blue one looks pretty and blue is my favorite color.

Cool, all mine. Now let's try this again. Turn the key and off we go to the wild pink yonder.

Yeeee Haaaa!!! Up, up and away!!!

That tiny white dot in the right hand side of the pink sky is me.

And now I'm that big explosion on the sand dune. At least I made a nice meal, again, for some of the locals.

Third times the charm.
He keeps saying if I have any problems to come back and see him. Why do I get the feeling he isn't sincere?

He didn't mention anything about a droid when I bought this thing. Hey WOAH, where am I going to get a droid?

I don't need no stinkin droid. I'll fly this puppy myself. Afterall I am a qualified escape pod pilot.

Ok maybe I really do need a droid. Where is R2D2 when you need him?

So where am I going to find a droid in the middle of nowhere? Oh, I know DROIDS B US. They have the best droids…and not so best…in the galaxy.

Why does everyone always think I'm broke?

Let's look at the white one first.
Not bad, but white doesn't go well with my ensamble.

Great a gambling junkies left overs. Hmmm, pass.

Now the green one. This one looks like a winner. It's a cool green and more important it's cheap.

Let's take a look at the top of the line models. Maybe I could afford one of those.
COOL! It's HK-47. Too bad I don't have enough money for him. He could wipe out those Sariens in the blink of an eye, if he didn't decide to kill me first.

You have a robot on your showroom floor and it's not even for sale?

A mining droid? If this was Space Quest the RT strategy game, then maybe I'd be interested.

In any case, I have to go back and win a few more bucks at the slot (It's not broken now that I don't have 250 buckazoids. Funny how that works out that I can only ever afford the two droids at the top of the stairs ;-)

A few eyeballs later and I have enough cash.

Let's get that little green guy. He's cute.

He isn't that fast or the sharpest droid in the bunch. He keeps walking in circles.

There he is.

Almost there little buddy. Just one more area over.

Ahhh, come on. Keep up.

Are you supposed to make that sound?

I would guess, no.

I'm starting to see why these salesmen are in the armpit of the galaxy.

Alrighty then, rewind and buy the white one.

So far so good.

Made it to the ship without it frying a circuit. That's gotta be a good thing.

Let me guess, as soon as I get in the ship the little guy will overheat his power cell causing a thermonuclear blast.

Maybe, I'm just being paranoid. Everything seems ok. Let's load him up.

Awesome, he actually functions. What sector??? Hmm, didn't I overhear something about the bad guys being in sector HH? Let's try that one.

HAAAA, eat my ozone SUCKER!!!
Even though the saleman sold me a ship that wasn't his to sell. I don't feel that bad about it :-)

And off we goooo. Finally we can get off this hell hole.

One of those white dots is us.

Once again a nice little pat of the back before we head straight into another deathtrap.

Flying through space. Nothing to do but enjoy the ride.

I should of known our luck wouldn't hold out for long.

Wooaahh, those are some big rocks headed our way.

No worries our little buddy will fly us through this.

That's no moon. It's a space station Errr, I mean it's just a really big ship.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, little buddy. We'll be fine. I just need to find myself a death star.

Alright, so you wait here and do nothing, while I go into that scary look ship and do all the heroic stuff.
If we make it through this there will be NO award ceremony or bath for you. You are no R2D2.

Will our custodial doo gooder make it out of this one alive? Or will he finally be sweeped under the rug? Tune in tomorrow for the continuing adventures of ROGER WILCO and his not so heroic sidekick, Garbage Pail.

Playing those adventure games I learned a few things…
- Always look at the room
- Always look at items you get
- Always check the room for any details before moving to the next

I remember friends of mine getting stuck and never finishing because they were more the 'explorer' types. They would go around all areas to see them, and always left stuff behind in their rush.
The places I had more difficulty with were the rooms with 'concealed' exits, I always missed those.

The 'look' command was a very powerful tool and essential to any adventure game. Even now. Exploring is great, but if you don't look at everything in a room then you are going to get stuck later on. It's guaranteed.

What I found difficult and frustrating were adventure games that had puzzles that didn't make any sense. Like, Shadow of the comet had this one puzzle where you had to mix chemicals together to develop your photographs, but they didn't give you clues ANYWHERE. You just had to know this. This would be a great puzzle if they had the answer somewhere within the game. I didn't have an encyclopedia or internet back then. I just had to keep clicking the chemicals together until I finally got the right mixture.

Kinda tired tonight so I might not be able to finish this up. I got a ton of screenshot, I just have to put them up here :-)

Now our adventure continues with Roger and his trusty sidekick, Garbage Pail, just right outside the Sariens gigantic spaceship.

Let's take a look at that bad boy.

Not too scary. It's about 100x our size and has an army ready to shoot at the drop of a hat. Oh and let's not forget that it could blow away a planet faster than you can say 'Dantoonie' ten times fast.

I have on a space suit, so no need to put that on. Let's just get out of this ship and head on over to the Sariens space ship.

I knew I was forgetting something. Some kind of propulsion would of been a good thing.

Rewind.
Try again. This time strap that jet pack on first.

Great, he gets to run away while I get to go in the lion's den.

Despite all my rage.

Weeeee!!!! If there wasn't a good chance that I would die in the next few minutes this would be a lot of fun.

Cool, a hatch. Let's get a closer and take a look at that thing.

Simple enough. No codes or elabrate geyser puzzles to open this door.
Open Sesame!

No turning back now. Either I destroy the generator or die trying.
I'm so dead!

I'm in an airlock. Nothing interesting about that.

Let's check out that door.
Great, no way to open it up. Now what?

Wooaaahhh, what the heck are you and are you going to kill me like everyone else in the known universe?

A weird sounding robot, but at least it's not toting a grenade launcher.

Ahhh, I missed my chance to get through the door while I was checking out that funky blue robot.

He's coming back. Now get ready this time Roger.

Score!!! A new room and it has a footlocker. Let's check this place out first.

Let's open this puppy up and see what's inside (RPG instincts kicking in again)

Goose egg!!!

Since there is nothing special in the trunk, let's see if the coast is clear outside.

NOT CLEAR!!!

Deja vu, didn't I get zapped by these guys before. Except they had red helmets on.

Rewind. Try again.

Now this next part has two different ways to complete it. I'll show you both ways. The first way is taking note that the trunk was empty. An adventure game wouldn't just have an empty trunk lying around for no reason (when you can open it). So let's try something off the wall. Let's climb in it.

Hey, what do you know? It worked. Now we just wait around and be delivered somewhere safer.

Great, the trunk ate my jet pack. How the heck did I lose a jet pack in a trunk that had no openings. It must of been a mimic that was slowly digesting me :-)

Now let's see the other way you can get into that room.
First we know the trunk is empty and has no function other than to get inside it. Or does it?
Let's try pushing it closer to that vent.

Despite all my rage.

Now let's hop on this sucker before someone catches us in here.

Pry open the vent.

And climb on through…..DOH!!!! I have to get rid of my jet pack. Man, this game really wants you to get rid of that thing.

We put it into the trunk…..DOH AGAIN!!! I have to get off the trunk first.

Oh no. Someone is coming. I've taken too long.

To save you the trouble of seeing me put away the jet pack with an exciting dialogue shot of "O.K." I'll skip past that and continue after I just climbed in the vent.

Two ways to go. Let's try down.

Identical looking shaft, but in a different area. BTW, this shaft only leads to two places. The laundry room and the room we were just in.

It's stuck. Let's kick it open and go on through.

Woooaaahhh. Watch out below!!!

And we're back to the laundry room, minus the trunk. I'm not sure why they made it possible to get here by two different paths. I guess they were trying to make it look like it wasn't linear :-D

Uh oh, someone is coming. Quick roger, HIDE!

Oh yea. Great place, Roger! He's never going to notice a gigantic head staring back at him from the washing machine.

As usual the narrator is no help at all.

Cool, he didn't notice us, but what is he doing??? Is he turning it on???
