3 GB is probably only on Vista and Windows 7.
RoT doesn't need a faster PC than Drakensang. A GeForce 8800 is enough for full details.

Drakensang and its sequel are PC only games. So, they use much more detailed textures that normally consoles can not handle. So, detailed textures mean more memory and while they are using the same engine for both games, Drakensang 2 will have much more detailed textures according to the screenshots I have seen so far.
I enjoyed first game so much. And I'm waiting excitedly for the sequel. But there aren't much information about the game though.

I'm waiting eagerly for the preview. If you will add some new screenshots, even a gameplay video it will be better.

For the U.S. and other markets that's true, because this "extra package" was included right from the beginning.

The high res textures were held back for several reasons. They were planned early on.
