[Release] Risen 2: Enhanced Experience

Like many other Piranha Bytes games, Risen 2 is a flawed gem which needs some polishing. I've collected multiple mods plus included some my own balancing tweaks for gameplay and graphics performance to make the experience as good as possible.

Graphics features
  • Draw distance increased vastly
  • Item LOD distance increased
  • Increased field of view (FOV)
  • Torches gives shadows and more light
  • Vegetation density increased in high level
  • Quality of specular reflections changes for higher FPS
  • Shadows "High" setting tweaked to be less FPS demanding

Gameplay features
  • Quest and gameplay fixes from unoff. patch
  • Fixed English translation for muskets and shotguns
  • Fixed weapon icons
  • Pistols balanced to do less damage, but are faster to shoot
  • Muskets balanced to do less damage and are slower to shoot
  • Shotguns balanced do less damage and have shorter range
  • Bullets are twice as expensive
  • Increased high level armor cost
  • NPCs party members are weaker
  • Monsters power and Xp gain tweaked

Installation:
Extract to the Risen 2 folder (eg. c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Risen 2) and play.

PS. If you need a big performance boost, then lower shadows quality from Ultra to High.

Thanks. I like a bit of modding, and I've never played that one.

This looks fantastic! Tell me I don't need to install reshade for this and I'm replaying the game.

Not needed. Just the mod file.

Sounds good. I might have to find time for a replay. :)

What exactly does Parallax Occlusion Mapping do? Is there any loss of visual quality from having that disabled?

My computer had a huge FPS gain when POM was set off and in the game I just don't see the visual change. Now, with that extra FPS I could then improve the vegetation, drawing distance and the lightning, so that in the end the graphics are a lot better now overall.

To enable POM, just don't install materials.p00-file from the mod.

EDIT: Updated the mod not to include this anymore.
