The Witcher: Ronin — A Hard Copy Collector’s Edition Manga

An original comic set in an ancient-Japanese-inspired world where monster slayer Geralt trails the mythical Lady of Snow Yuki Onna.

To bring this ambitious what-if? scenario to life, CD PROJEKT RED, creators of The Witcher series of games, have assembled a dedicated creative team made up of talented individuals who all wanted to explore a different take on the world of The Witcher. Instead of taking inspiration from western, European mythology and fairy tales, The Witcher: Ronin presents The Witcher universe as if it were based around the rich traditions of Japanese folklore. In a world such as this, the role of a professional monster slayer is just as essential — as dangerous Yokai and Oni (Japanese spirits and demons) are constantly on the prowl.

The main story arc of The Witcher: Ronin contains 4 chapters — around 100 full-color pages — following Geralt as he searches for clues, fights deadly monsters, and is faced with difficult moral choices. In addition to this main story, we have also written 3 short stories of roughly 15 pages each. These standalone tales deepen the context of this mysterious Ronin world, while also featuring fan-favorite characters such as Vesemir and Yennefer — each translated into this manga’s style.

It seems like it could be a neat spin on The Witcher, but I don't understand why CDPR is using Kickstarter for this. It's not as if they would need help with the funding.

Yeah, KS is a mess. There's projects that don't need the funding using it for marketing. Projects asking for paltry sums they think they can get instead of a realistic budget, and so on.
