Of Orcs and Men - Review @ Pixel Perfect Gaming
Pixel Perfect Gaming reviewed the Playstation 3 version of Of Orcs and Men and had amongst others the following to say:
The story enables you to make important decisions that affect the outcome of the game; your choices will change things dramatically. With that said, you can play Of Orcs and Men multiple times and never experience the same outcome twice. This adds to the game’s excitement. In many ways, this allows the story to develop and the outcome to change depending on what the player chooses.
You can also choose side-quests that are outside the main story arc. These side-quests are open-ended and tailor the experience based on your previous actions. It’s a great way to earn extra coin, weapons, or even rare gear. You never know what you will find.

Of Orcs and Men - More Reviews
Of Orcs and Men is for a specific audience -- its quirks and faults will be tough to forgive for the mainstream crowd, while its challenge and uniquely hectic combat can be offputting. It is, however, a game that a particular sort of gamer will fall deeply in love with.
Entertainment Buddha, 5/5
Overall, Of Orcs and Men is a solid gameplay experience. The more time I sank into it, the more I appreciated its characteristics. The story is really unique; because it’s not too often you get to be the victim in the human vs. orc/goblin conflict. Aside from the intriguing story OOAM also has solid graphics, as well as a great soundtrack with sound effects that really help pull you into the story. Along with the audio aspect the game’s tooltips are very informative, and not some interactive video that you have to watch and mimic, or a short message that you miss and have no idea what you’re doing moving forward. OOAM has its issues, namely with how combat is executed, but also with the limited on-screen HUD.
The whole game is just so frustratingly uninspired, and doubly so when you consider the great things that other games have done with the same setup. The game positively screams to be made into a great co-op experience like Hunted: The Demon’s Forge, or The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, where each character has a specific skillset that compliments the other, where splitting up is a great risk/reward decision, where levels are filled with various traps, puzzles and secrets that require players to work together to uncover, or where your actions have a measurable outcome on the game beyond “how hard the next fight is going to be”.

Of Orcs and Men - 3 More Reviews
Here are 3 more review for Of Orcs and men.
Game-Modo comes with an advice of 'consider'.
I honestly think if you like story-focused games, especially RPG's and you are willing to forgive a slow start and you are mainly in it for the story, the inability to explore isn't an issue then this game would be a great buy. However, I understand that quite a large number of people will be put off by some of the negatives found and to be honest, I am still rather irritated by the linearity of the gameplay, the story certainly tries to make up for it though.
Impulse Gamer rates it a 7.
There’s not much in the way of pickups; occasionally you’ll encounter chests with weapons, armour or assorted trinkets and that’s it. There is no loot, with items purchased via a trading system rather than financial transactions. Health and energy regenerate quickly outside of battle, and if your partner falls in combat you can instantly revive them using one of your allotted moves.
GameFob gives it a score of 7.9.
Of Orcs and Men deserves applause, this was an unexpected title that snuck up on many people (and many others who have yet to experience it). It manages to bridge the gap between consistent and reliable gameplay, with the unique spark that we so desperately crave (Unless you really like having so many digits tacked on to your favorite franchise, sequels are good… but enough is enough). This isn’t a title that will blow away critics, but it’s going to develop a fan base because it brings a unique perspective, dynamic protagonists, and stellar gameplay that is so difficult to find elsewhere.

Of Orcs and Men - Review Roundup
Here is acollection of reviews for Of Orcs and Men, with mixed results.
- The Xboxer, 9
It’s a game filled with corruption, lies and brutal violent force and with a good story to it as well.
- Gameranx, 4/5
Though Of Orcs and Men probably won't be grabbing much awards attention come December, it does make for a thoroughly enjoyable experience that you won't regret playing.
- GamingLives, 6
A good game wracked with issues, Of Orcs and Men is rather hit and miss.
- Hooked Gamers, 7.9
I am rooting for this game. I care about this world, I care about Arkail and Styx. Their story is my story, their anguish is my pain, their redemption is my deliverance. This is a fantastic tale, full of memorable characters, desperate struggles, impossible odds and fueled by an unsaid bond between two world-weary and battle-scarred greenskins. It has great locations, fun and complex combat, and satisfying mechanics. However, poor voice-acting, random bugs, questionable AI, a rushed ending and a general lack of polish hold Of Orcs and Men back from being a great game.
- Gamespy, 3/5
Keep in mind that this isn't an everyman's game -- its linear levels, the absence of bundles of loot, and even the quirks of its combat whittle down its potential audience -- but there's a lot to love about how this RPG sings the glories of the underdogs. For all of its blood and gore, it's a tale of dreams and friendship and hope and loss, and somehow, if only briefly, it thus manages to capture something of the same poignancy of the Steinbeck's parable of two misfits wandering about a broken world.

Of Orcs and Men - Reviews @ Destructoid, OXM UK
Borcanu sends in our first review of Cyanide's Of Orcs and Men, with Destructoid's Jim Sterling awarding 8/10:
Though the 10-14-hour story isn't quite as deep as it'd like to be, and the constant treachery of other characters can grow a little exhausting, Of Orcs and Men still manages to provide one of the better role-playing adventure stories I've experienced in a while. With its dark world and characters that seem very human despite their fantastical genus, there should be few people who won't feel satisfied by the plot, as it grows from a story of foolhardy revenge to inspiring rebellion.
Arkail and Styx can be manually controlled at the press of a button, and it's worth approaching combat with the idea that you will be using both of them. Unchecked, the A.I. isn't particularly good at handling battle situations, even when switched to the suggested defensive stance. Fighting is all about constantly maintaining both characters, keeping them both focused on the right tactics and ensuring they work together to take down foes. You don't play Of Orcs as a single character -- you really are both of them.
Looking around, OXM UK has a counterpoint at 6/10, although they do note some positive elements:
That said, there's not a lot to the game beyond its central theme. A linear RPG that plonks you into a series of dungeons, the only real mechanic lies in a combat system that sits somewhere between chess and The Matrix. It's a case of analysing targets, slowing down time and queuing up skills from various skill wheels that denote different stances.
This approach doesn't deliver the slow-paced nature of a turn-based system, but the differences between your two characters - Arkail is the prototypical tank while Styx takes on the role of rogue - mean each fight is as much about tactics as it is controlling the current action.

Of Orcs and Men - Buddy Trailer
A new trailer for Of Orcs and Men has been released featuring the Orc and Goblin buddies.
Just a week from release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 andoblinPC, Of Orcs and Men unveils a whole new kind of video with the Buddy Trailer. Just like the popular "Buddy Film" movie genre, which cast a pair of unlikely heroes who must band together, there are bound to be communication problems and hilarious moments. This is one of the original aspects of Of Orcs and Men. Indeed, the powerful and proud Orc warrior Arkaïl and the sly Goblin Styx don't have much in common, and when they butt heads it allows for some comic relief in an otherwise dark and violent adventure.
While their personalities differ, once thrown into the heat of battle these two will actually complement each other quite nicely. Between the elite Orc soldier's devastating power and the agility of the Goblin, they will both have to depend on their companion's talents and skills to get out of tricky situations. For example, Styx will be able to strike opponents out of Arkaïl's reach, while the powerful Orc's melee style will draw enemy fire and protect the weaker Goblin. In the face of adversity, a bond will form between our two heroes as they learn to respect each other's ways. These opposing styles are at the heart of the Buddy Trailer, available to watch now!
Take arms, and lead rebellion of Orcs and Goblins on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC retail on October 11th in Europe. The game will also be available for download on PC worldwide on October 11th, and on October 16th on the US PlayStation Network.

Of Orcs and Men - Dated, New Screens
Focus has announced Of Orcs and Men will be released on October 11th (October 18th for some territories and digital download). They've also released a new batch of screens.
Now just a month from release on Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3 and PC, Of Orcs and Men, the role-playing game jointly realized by Spiders (Realization and Development) and Cyanide (Concept and Production) today reveals more in five new screenshots, recounting an excerpt of the quest of our two heroes: Arkaïl the Orc warrior, and Styx the Goblin!
Arkaïl and Styx's adventure is filled with traps, dangers, and shady characters. While Arkaïl's reputation as the unrivaled warrior isn't to be questioned and Styx' ability to play his cards right no matter the situation is outstanding, the path toward their objective is long and traverses many dangerous territories. The surroundings of the Wall are cutthroat, filled with bandits and the inquisitors hot on their trail. Below the foundations of the Wall lie the menacing catacombs, filled with vermin and savage goblins. They will also have to be wary of the apparent tranquility of the Isle of Laments, haven of The Sisters of Laments, one of the most dangerous mercenary group in the Empire. After all, assassinating the man at the very head of the Empire is no doubt the most dangerous mission the Bloodjaws will ever undertake... and it is this very mission players will lead in October, when the game releases on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC!
From the Wall separating the Empire of Men from the Orc territories to the Isle of Laments, Of Orcs and Men's fantasy universe comes to life thanks to the powerful graphics engine developed by Spiders. The screenshots revealed today are a testimony of the care of Spiders and Cyanide to realize a quality role-playing game endowed with a strong identity, an exceptional ambiance, and unique graphics rendering.
Take arms, and lead the green-skinned people's rebellion on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC retail on October 11th (October 18th in UK, Germany, and worldwide for download on PC).

Of Orcs and Men - Preview @ PC Magazine
LOS ANGELES—The role-playing genre typically features human lead characters on epic adventures where the fate of the world/planet/galaxy hangs in the balance. Or Orcs and Men, an upcoming fantasy RPG from Cyanide Studios, dares to be a bit different. The title focuses on two non-human characters – an Orc named Arkill and a foul-mouthed goblin named Styx – who are out to assassinate a human emperor who waged war against their green-skinned people. The majority of the game sees players using the two characters in tandem. Arkill the orc is a powerhouse who relies on heavy melee combat; Styx the goblin is a trickster who relies on stealth, sneaky one-hit kills, and ranged attacks. Players can switch between characters on the fly, and when they do, the computer A.I. controls the other character.

Of Orcs and Men - Preview @ Hooked Gamers
Zohain sends in this preview of the Cyanide and Spiders collaboration Of Orcs and Men. It looks based on existing information but offers a summary of the project:
Of Orcs and Men is set in a typical world infest... sorry... inhabited by men. This means that the other races and species have to retreat from their ancestral lands as the human civilization expands. The downtrodden species in this case are Orcs and Goblins, the former of which are powerful and strong warriors and the latter smaller, more cunning and stealthier species. While the race of Men has uses for strong Orcs – mainly as slaves – they have only hatred towards the Goblins and they slaughter them wherever they are encountered.
The hero of the story is an elite Orc soldier, a veteran of many battles and a member of a legion called Bloodjaws. He is called forth by his commander and tasked with a mission that will test his mettle and potentially end the war between Orcs and Men. And this mission involves nothing less than the assassination of the Emperor of Men, the man who has sent his people against Orcs and Goblins for many loathsome decades.
