Here are a few more Dead Island: Riptide previews, which are unlikely to contain new info, but one never knows.

From the start of the booth presentation at PAX, Deep Silver let us in on the story behind this new edition. We were told that the events in riptide continue where Dead Island ended. For those who haven't played it, I won't spoil it for you. There are new drivable boats, dynamic weather, and familiar game modes. Dead Island: Riptide is sure to please zombie survival fans, and by that I mean a game mode similar to a certain nazi zombie mode; and a popular zombie survival where players are "left for dead".

OXM:

One of the most noticeable changes in Riptide’s overall presentation is the improved responsiveness in combat physics, as well as character and gore animations. Techland assures us that this is still a very melee-centric game — the primary weapon used through most of the demo was actually an electrified sword — and connecting a blow to a zombie had an impact that the original game somewhat lacked. Firearms and explosives also have a bit more oomph, with much bigger explosion radii and seemingly tighter gunplay to complement the power of the physical strikes.

Co-Optimus:

Overall the whole thing came off as a very intense, chaotic ride. I think defensive missions like these will be a welcome addition to the Dead Island franchise. It was a little unsettling to see the NPCs kind of standing around and not doing anything during the mission. I think the other playable characters were supposed to lend a hand, under control of AI, but I didn't really see that in action. It looked to me like only the two controlled characters were doing anything, but it was very intense, so I may be wrong. Either way, it should be a blast with a friend (or three).
