Our technology goal was to support the gameplay. In my opinion, this is what game technology should always do... not add the latest buzz words, not check off some list of features, but actually support the gameplay. In Depths of Peril's case, this means a fairly quick action game, strategy gameplay with the other covenants, and lots of things happening in the background regardless of what the player is doing, like other factions adventuring, trading, and raiding, monsters forming groups, stirring up uprisings and attacking the town, and other dynamic world events.
