Before the orc war Geldern was an ancient city of alchemists. Surrounded by forests with many herbs and plants growing close to the city the alchemists never had to look far for supplies. Geldern is also the most western city of Myrtana located close to Silden and Trelis.

After the orc war Geldern was made into a city of mines and artifact collectors. There are four mines in the direct vicinity and one inside the city supplying Geldern mainly with gold and sulpher. The Hashishin traveled to the city and with them came artifacts. There were so many artifacts that even arena fighters were awarded with artifact after they won a fight.
Despite this transformation there are still a lot of alchemists in the city, three humans including a former mage and also a lot of orc shamans which continue brewing potions and discovering the secrets of alchemy.
