JoWooD Productions

Austrian publisher JoWooD funds the development of the Gothic franchise since Gothic 2. In return for their financial investment they hold the exclusive publishing, marketing and distribution rights for Gothic 2 and 3. Since they no longer have their own distribution JoWooD usually seeks cooperation with local partners. Sometimes the local partner has full publisher status, sometimes he is only responsible for the distribution and marketing.
The most important cooperation for Gothic 3 is the one with Deep Silver in the German market, the UK, Italy and France. Deep Silver has full co-publisher status with equal rights. Until a few months ago JoWooD and Deep Silverīs mother company Koch Media had offices in the same building in Ebensee, Austria.
