Pathfinder: Kingmaker Update #50

Link - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/owlcatgames/pathfinder-kingmaker/posts/2253838
Digital distribution is great. When you want a new game in this day and age, it's usually just one click away, then you're instantly downloading it. No need to go to the shop, hope it's still in stock, queue up to pay, it's all nice and hassle-free. After all, if you want a glass of water, you don't get your jug and walk down to the village well. You turn on the tap.

With that in mind, some gamers do miss the physical side of the experience. Getting something you can touch and feel, something to remind you of and connect you to a game you care about, to bring back memories of adventures in a virtual realm. Some of us just like to have something in the real world that we can touch and that we associate with the games we love. Makes them feel a little more real.

This is why we offered physical rewards and add-ons to you, our backers. Those among you, who pledged for tiers, which include physical rewards may be wondering how these goodies are coming along. So today's update is dedicated to some of these sweet, sweet items you'll be getting. Let's have a look, shall we?

The New World Update #29: Factional Choice & Consequence

Link - http://www.irontowerstudio.com/forum/index.php/topic,7583.0.html
As you probably know by now, Choices & Consequences are more than just a feature for us. It’s the foundation on which the game is built and a concept we’ll continue exploring and evolving as long as we stay in business. The reason it’s so important to us –and hopefully to you – is that the players need a steady stream of choices to craft their own tales and it is the consequences that give meaning to those choices and alter the tale.

AoD was our first attempt at C&C and I’d rate this attempt at 6/10. We did many things right and – predictably - we did many things wrong. We also learned quite a lot in the process and we hope that The New World will take C&C to the next level, offering a less restrictive and more engaging experience.

PC Gamer Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption Interview

Link - https://www.pcgamer.com/how-hero-u-avoided-disaster-to-resurrect-90s-adventure-game-nostalgia/
Six years, two Kickstarter campaigns, and one home equity loan later, Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption has finally been released. “A year after the first Kickstarter we were approached by an outside investor,” says Corey Cole, part of the husband-wife team behind Hero-U. “We would’ve gotten half a million in additional funding. The problem was they wanted 50% of the game’s sales for life. At the time we felt it was too much to give up. Had we looked into our crystal ball in 2015 or 2017, we would’ve jumped on that.”
BioWare Mid-Summer Update

Link - http://blog.bioware.com/2018/08/02/mid-summer-update/
It’s been a busy summer. We kicked it off by heading out to LA for EA PLAY and E3 in June. After the press conference, we showed Anthem in a series of theatre demos running live in front of audiences for the very first time. After a tremendous effort by the team push to get the game looking and playing great, it was awesome to see the team rewarded with cheers and applause from the crowds.

Playground Games Hires Talent for Upcoming RPG

Link - http://www.gamebanshee.com/news/121070-playground-games-hires-talent-for-upcoming-rpg.html
Playground Games is currently working on an unannounced open-world action-RPG, and the rumor has it that this game just may be Fable IV. Still, Fable or not, according to GamesIndustry.biz, the Playground team has recently added a number of experienced developers to its roster. Coming over from such studios like BioWare, Ninja Theory, and Guerrilla Games, these new developers bring along plenty of AAA experience, meaning that whatever they're working on, it's going to be fairly big.

Most don't get posted when submitted.

So it's easier to post it myself on the forum.

It also gives the other news-posters a helping hand.^^

Count is a prolific poster. This does the job pretty well I think. I was most interested in the camera switch for Dragon Age. Next time I'm in the mood for some Biowarez I'll look this up.

Games Improved The Most By Free Updates

Link - https://www.gameinformer.com/2018/08/05/the-games-improved-the-most-by-free-updates
Video games have changed over the years from the one-and-done packages of the early console heyday. Now games almost have more in common with television, as many operate as a service, consistently updating the original release with new content and tweaks to improve the original version. While this shift to the serialization has many drawbacks (chief among them players' dissatisfaction with developers releasing "unfinished" games), it's hard to deny that many games have benefited from a digital model that allows them to receive content packages and quality of life improvements months, sometimes even years after their original release.
15 Different Ways Anthem Is Not A Mere Destiny Clone

Link - https://gamingbolt.com/15-different-ways-anthem-is-not-a-mere-destiny-clone
Bioware’s Anthem didn’t quite have the awesome gameplay blowout that we were expecting at E3. That’s because the real details were in the numerous previews and hands-on sessions that publications received. Many will still doubt whether there’s anything that really differs from games like, say, Bungie’s Destiny. So let’s take a look at 15 ways that Anthem is most decidedly not a clone of Destiny. Keep in mind that these points are based on the gameplay footage and details known thus far since a lot could still change about Anthem before it launches.

Grim Dawn Grim Misadventure #144 - Haunted Memories

Hey Folks, It's me. . .Not Zantai! It seems that sometime over the weekend, our very own esteemed Zantai has vanished into the night, leaving us to fend for ourselves like a pack of feral wolves. Perhaps it was the crushing weight of tweaking countless item stats that finally drove him mad. Or maybe he made peace with his inner demons and joined a group of wandering ascetics to help bring comfort and healing to this wounded land. Or who knows, maybe he's just off visiting family - really anything is possible at this point.

At any rate, before his departure, he left us a cryptic note scrawled in what appears to be goat's blood or pasta sauce and possibly some zucchini seeds. After extensive analysis and backbreaking labor, our team of cryptographers have managed to decipher his parting message. In the nature of transparency, we thought it was best to share it with the GD community. Please excuse the legibility and clarity of the message; though we think we have it correctly translated, it's nature and meaning still remains shrouded in mystery. So, without further ado, here is the message in it's entirety - make of it what you will.

Thanks for the video on arx redesign. One negative is that it sounds like they toned down the combat significantly but it was already too easy.... hum....
