So, was browsing for other games on the Nexus and noticed that Skyrim has 2.6 billion downloads. Makes me glad I decided to support those guys from day one. Of course, those of you who crusade against the game will say all of those downloads are people trying to fix the bugs ;) Couch and I know that it's all CBBE :D

Yeah, but the reason there are so many downloads is because you need mods to make the game bearable. ;)

The Skyrim mod community was, for the most part, a giant disappointment to me. Just one stupid "follower" (aka scantily clad girl with no bespoke dialogue) after another. Minimal effort, maximum repetition. The Morrowind mod community was not only better in its heyday, it's better now, 20 years hence.

Well the internet is for porn. Look the song up it's true. For Morrowind as well.

Plenty of kinky mods for that game as well.

I've never been a fan of extra content mods anyways. I usually only install mods that improve the mechanics and UI because that's where Bethesda's games are often lacking in certain ways.

Mods that improve the visuals are great too as long as they don't stray too far from the original art direction.

Play the game with Vilja; not scantily clad unless you change her defaults, and Inigo. These are the best companions for Skyrim and they interact with one another. Add Lydia too because Inigo makes fun of her all the time and Vilja and Lydia are quite chummy. I've played Skyrim through for over 400 hours with that set of companions. Good times.

I played Oblivion with Vilja and got my fill of her there. I have a lot of respect for the mod, but never did enjoy the voice actress (who I believe is the mod author?), which is just a personal preference thing that I tried and failed to get past.

I had Inigo installed but never actually recruited him. I always ended up running around with companions from Interesting NPCs. Something to do if and when I ever return to the game, for sure.

I used to live for extra content mods, years ago. The first time I modded Morrowind I added every quest mod I could find. Two things were quickly evident: 1) it made the game crash like a mofo, and 2) most content mods are crap and pull one out of the game.

There were still good ones, like Illuminated Order, but I pared way back on that kind of stuff and mostly used graphical mods and visual herbalism and things like that. But imo Tamriel Rebuilt is the mod that rises above all of those usual concerns. It's all about adding extra content, but despite its size, it has the best quality control of any content mod I've seen. It's almost uniformly excellent content that fits in with and sometimes betters the vanilla game.

Yeah I highly recommend a mod or mods from Interesting NPCs.

His Skyrim mod is the best one but he made a few for the latest Fallout games as well. What makes them good is quality voice-overs which the other similar mods don't have.
