I gave it shot a while back but had memory-related crashes before hitting the 2hour mark. Apparently 4 gigs of RAM are not enough.

I cannot recall if the EXE has the LAA flag set (for us with Win764 and 6 GB or more). If not that might help (I have the little app I used for Skyrim somewhere). I'll try to look into it one of these days…

If you have the community patch installed then all of the relevant files are LAA flagged.
And -yes- it is true that 4GB of RAM are not enough depending on the settings you use. PCGH recommends 8GB of RAM and a Core i7 CPU for its ULTRA/INSANE quality ini files.
I'm pretty sure that they just mean a really powerful CPU though and not necessarily a Core i7. Gothic 3 (as of v1.6) does not make use of multiple cores or any multi- or hyperthreading so at least theoretically a really high-clocked single core CPU would be sufficient, too.

Hey there. I'd be interested in Ultra tweaks as well as links to anything "essential" for graphics updates. One caveat, though, and that is that the graphics enhancements don't change the game to look like a totally different art style, if that makes sense, and still retain the original charms of the game. I'm starting a playthrough of this soon and would like to start putting together the mods I'll need. So far I know to use the latest Community Patch but that's the furthest I've gotten. Any help would be appreciated.
Hey. I put together a little tutorial/guide thing for Gothic 3 graphics enhancements for 2017. I linked other guides that already exist and helped walk through a few things in the description. Hope this helps! If I missed anything let me know. :)

Here's my INI-file with moderate graphics tune up and increased number of threads and fixed DOF for the new drawing distance.
Go to " \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Gothic 3\Ini" -folder and copy content to ge3.ini.
Spoiler –ge3.ini

I also recommend highly Gothic 3 Update Pack 1.4 on top on CP1.75, which "is an attempt to fix various errors remaining after the release of the last official patch for Gothic 3 v1.75, as well as make some improvements for the players and innovations for modders. For example, the Update Pack added the ability to block the attacks of various animals, expanded quick loot feature, improved alternative camera, hero and NPCs can say more SVM phrases, etc.".
