Dragon Age - Patch 1.04 Available Later Today
Victor Wachter, Bioware's Community Coordinator, has updated this thread where he announces that patch 1.04 for Dragon Age: Origins (and Awakenings) will be released some timer later today. It will, however, only be the PC version of the patch that will be released, since the patch needs to pass Xbox 360 and PS3 certifications.
There's a very long changelist, so I'll list what seems to be the most interesting info: the party/member approval quest issues: Quote:
And here's Victor Wachtor's advice to those os us who'd be installing the game again sometime: Quote:

Such a speedy patch. Maybe rest of the team was busy making The Witcher… err, I mean Dragon Age 2, or maybe DRAGON AGE 3: THE FPS!!

Does this mean that DLC won't be fixed yet ?
They concentrate on the boxed or downloadable releases ? |
The patch is now available for download

Good news, but too late…. I've lost interest, especially with all the lousy DLC they've releasing…
|
I enjoyed DA:O and Awakenings a lot, but those things should have been fixed months ago.
|
yea, that is the one I'd try… the rest had a negative effect, plus all the bugs, and the high price…

I installed DA:O - Awakening but didn't play it due to comments about stability, just installed the patch.
|
This is good news for me, since I still haven't found the time to play my copy of Dragon Age. With luck I'll manage to start it before the sequel comes out.

(what? I want to know dammit!) |
Good, I just finally started playing this.
|
Wow, Bioware releases patch when I've already finished this game twice and completely lost interest >.<
|
What I find really annoying is that for a game that has had so many DLCs released for it, the download manager (or whatever it is called) of DA:O (PC version) is so damn unreliable, that it's almost worthless. For a big fish like Bioware, this should not be acceptable. Since I had to reinstall DA:O due to an OS upgrade, I have not been able to re-download any of my DLCs. Not one. Thanks, Bio. :(

Only after you have done all this can you patch up the game people are done playing months ago. |
Why all the bitching? Did people actually suffer from bugs? I admittedly only played about 15 hours so far, but I didn't expereience any. So a patch seems nice, but not exactly desperately needed afaik.
|
Awakening had a lot of bugs, Origins did not. There is no need at all to whine about the state of Origins; it was in exceptional shape for a game that big.
|
I'll second that. It was very solid except for dexterity not working ;)
|
And I'll third it. The original release was very solid, though Awakening is a different matter.
|
I'll also agree that it was a very solid release, quite impressive for a modern game… My only issues were the occasional CTD when casting the paralysis glyph spell combo and a minor memory leak issue.
|
I used the paralysis glyph combo without crashes; can't remember any crashes, actually… Its stability amazed me, as did Drakensang's. Big plusses in my book.
|
Sounds really solid Kromm.

All kidding aside, I've experienced much worse in terms of "bugginess"… Or have you had significantly better experiences with other games? The occasional CTD happened maybe a hand full of times, and IIRC the memory leak wasn't a show stopper either as it took more than a couple of hours or so of gameplay to rear it's ugly head. |

Doh! Someone just got Pwned… JK ;) Dragon Age was one of the most stable crpgs I've played in recent memory, along with Risen. Even Awakenings never crashed or froze on me, although I did experience a number of bugs with quests and items. |
Dragon Age was also one of the blurriest RPG's I have played in a long time, unlike Risen. I remember how it was hyped as PC only RPG until they started advertising console ports as well.
So basically they managed to bring the visuals to the level of every other BioWare PC port, blurry and ugly. Oh and DLC and buggy game not being fixed until another DLC is out or on its way is just pathetic. |
The textures were very low res, too. But it was soild, rather than bleeding edge graphically.
|
Dragon Age : Origins was actually a PC exclusive for some time before they decided to make it go multiplatform and ported it to Xbox360 and PS3. And trust me, the X360 and PS3 versions look much worse, the PC version doesn't look particularly good because the engine is bad, not because they had to port it to consoles.

Probably gonna play this sometime, when there's absolutely nothing else to do/play. Dunno why i bought it really since i don't care for bioware games.. at least i'll have a patched game. |
