Unofficial Patch 1.4 released!

Hi everybody, the Unofficial Patch has been updated to 1.4 which includes all the additional fixes in the Official English Patch and some more fixes and features. You can find it here and it should work with all Russian or English versions out there:

http://www.patches-scrolls.de/precursors.php#tp14

P.S.: Badmofo, please stick this thread and remove the sticky from 1.3.

Update: Please download the version from 20.4.2011 if you get a crash on startup.

Cool, I haven't even started playing for real yet so this is nice!

Crash! Please help

Hi,

I just installed the 1.4 UP (Thanks again WESP!) I got the crash message of "Sound file 'SOUNDS\CUTSCENES\ABOUTCASSILA\SCENE1.OGG' is not listed in cache\sndlist.dat"

Uploaded the crash log.

I did have 1.3 patch and it was fine. Is there a way to fix (i.e. install 1.3 on top) or do I need to reinstall?

Thanks,
GAtes

Hi,

It looks like the white gold solution (see other forum) also fix this

Is this with the release dated 18.4. or 20.4.? I thought I fixed the problem with the update from today. I've seen the temporary White Gold solution but I don't like it ;).

Hi,

It is listed on the April 19th Changes…. does it take a day or so for PS to post your patch? For example, when you post on April 18, does it show up on April 19?

Just curious… why do you not like the WG solution? Is there in some way deficient and not fix certain aspect compare to your patch?

Thanks,
Gates

It takes some time for The Patches Scrolls to post it, but the important thing is the time stamp of the file itself, because I recompiled it on the 20.4.2011…

Because my patch should work without having the players edit ini files ;). BTW, I think the 19.4.2011 issue was caused by the daylight saving time switch.

I just DLed this today and am having the same issue as gates007. I installed 1.4 over a working 1.3. Thanks. Also noticed the file on Filefront is still showing the 19th. That could be it.

I can't seem to get it to work with this patch, I get sounds\cutscenes\aboutcassila\scene1.ogg is not listed in cache\sndlist.dat

Does 1.4 still work with the Russian 1.1 version when it also incorporates the changes of the official english patch? Always preferred that one due to the voice acting not sounding as bad (not understanding what they say helps) and the subtitles from the fanpatch are clear enough for me. Shame about the starforce though. Hate to have my pc infected with that stuff.

Hey all and of course Wesp5.

You are the man btw. Your dedication to this truely great game is really appreciated.

So with this istallation, are there any major instructions for a successful extraction? I noticed you mentioned we don't need to mess with the ini.

An it also conatins the fix for ATI flickers?

I only ask because I had a major crash the other day. I had stopped playing for a couple of months to get some game out of the way and when I returned I got these ones.

Spoiler – ERROR CODE HERE

So unable to find a fix I am opting for a reinstall which is annoying cause my game was just going so perfectly it was scary (in terms of cash flow and inventory).

So I had all the fixes and english patch and everything installed, from memory it took some work. So I'm just wondering about the process for 1.4.

Thanks.

The 1.4 patch comes with an installer that will ask you whether you want the ATI fix installed. You can just install it on top of your current setup.

Hi. I haven't decided which version of the game to get (Russian or English). But after reading some of those posts I'm really confused about how to proceed after I get it. So could someone help here, please?
Is this correct:

Russian version
1. download & install russian 1.1 patch
2. download and install unofficial patch 1.4
DONE

English 1.1 Gamersgate version
1. download & install Russian audio packs
2. download and install unofficial patch 1.4
DONE

Wesp5 May 23rd, 2011 09:31

Yes, both is correct!

Same exact issue and error here with DVD version and 1.4 patch.

Doing this causes the sndlist.dat crash.

I have gone back to 1.3 and it works fine.

Edit: Figured a few things out.

1. My Russian DVD version was not being patched properly cause it added a directory in the path during the setup. So I finally installed it properly by changing the path line. Now at 1.1, the game won't start at all due to a StarForce error. ARG!!! After much trying, I've assumed the DVD I bought from Ebay is a pirate version. Certainly is a VERY convincing copy.

2. I bought and installed the GamersGate version yesterday. Copied over the 2 Russian sound files. Start game, runs fine.
Installed the 1.4 patch. Start game, game crashes with sndlist.dat error still.

I notice I do not have any sndlist.dat file on my drives.

I do the ENGINESETTINGS.INI releaseversion 1 to 0 to 1 trick.

Start game, runs fine.

I notice now I have a sndlist.dat file.

Hope this helps some.
