Your EA-account is now origin account

Not that I knew I had an EA account, if I knew that I would have deleted it.

Anyway didn't EA feel it was enough to buy and destroy ultima's good name? now they want to ruin origins good name too?

They must be really evil!

Origin: We Destroy Worlds. ;)

Meh, it's okay for some things. Like you can register your boxed copies of DA or ME and then be able to redownload them again some time if you need to in case you lose the box or don't feel like digging it out.

I'm definitely not drinking their Kool Aid though.

Borg. Ea acts more and more like Borg.

Jaz September 18th, 2011 21:43

I don't think I ever had an Origin account … it was EA from the start, so I didn't even notice.

azarhal September 18th, 2011 21:53

Not sure what this outburst is about.

My different EA product accounts have always been linked to my main EA accounts and it always worked for accessing Origin.

GothicGothicness September 18th, 2011 22:08

The EA store changed named to origin and is at www.origin.com…..

Bah. I feel I must complain since it's EA. The digital download for SW:TOR is almost 10$ more expensive than retail with shipping.

It's almost like they don't want the game to sell.

Or that they know people really want this game and that most PC gamers these days don't want to bother with going to the store to buy a physical boxed copy so they are milking it for everything they can get.

I do find it outrageous to the point of almost being offensive that they are doing this though. The digital download is exclusive to Origin and they have absolutely no overhead or middle man costs involved plus they will still be getting a monthly fee on top of that from everyone who buys it.

Lucky Day September 18th, 2011 23:41

they changed their store name to Origin a long time ago - it confused all us watchers and then we got speculative about the marketing of names and what it means for the future of ultima.

it must have confused a lot back then GG - you didn't remember today.

of course, we can now speculate even more about the future of Bioware/Ultima.

Does anyone still have that link when Origin hosted a wrap party by burning a printout of the Ultima IX (or was it UO2) code?

An order of a game ends up right in your mail box, saving you the hazzle of having to go to the store though.

But then you have to wait, or pay extra for release day ordering. Normally, a digital download will save you money by not having to pay shipping, but obviously not in this case.

Even when shipping included, ordering from another country will often save me money compared to digital download. Only sales seem to result in lower prices than retail, and even that is far from always true.

Yeah, it will be most likely like this.

And some of us will just spend our money on indies and older games we missed, leaving EA to revel in its bastarddom. :p
