Fallout 3 is Suddenly One of The Best-Looking Games on Earth

I just thought these changes to Fallout 3 were pretty remarkable and, as the article points out, shows the power of mods.

I haven't finished FO3 yet and going to try this mod out!

You can mod any of Bethesda's games regardless of Steam, GG. It should be noted that the above pictures involve at least 3 or 4 mods, and not just 1 all-encompassing mod.

Your right I already use the Texture mod and other lighting mods with this. It looks good but remember make sure you have a good system as it will slow down the game otherwise.

Impressive but I would rather prefer them to attempt and overcome at this game.

Pardon my Hawaiian, but huh?

So, what are mods are used? The article mentions ENB, but there are several ENB mods. I want to break out FO3 and New Vegas again. So, i would like to try out these mods.

The guy who posted these screens runs a website called Dead End Thrills, and I think he will be posting a complete mod list there.

So far, he provided some .ini settings and mentioned a couple of the mods he is using. ENB, as well as Project Beauty and Fallout Retextured. I gather it is ENB version .115 FNV Beta. If you have a flickr account, perhaps you can ask him for more details.

Yes, there's some kind of confusion there….

They mention this one:
http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/12056/

and also this one:
http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/12132

But neither is the ENB one. These one's aren't new. But they look very good, anyway.

Is this a big improvement over the original? I find it hard to appreciate improvements to desolation.

You could always make it more desolate. I'd like that.

pibbur who fears this maybe says more about him than about … something completely different.

Thrasher August 8th, 2012 22:51

The most desolate would be a black screen. Simple. ;)

Imo, most definitely.

pibbur who August 9th, 2012 12:49

I don't know - the world of Fallout IS desolate, and making it too beautiful may conflict with my perception of it. This is also the reason I did not install the Morrowind Overhaul, in my eyes Vvardenfell is a barren place, dominated by the effects of the Red Mountain, the overhaul makes it far too lush.

The Fallout modification is impressive, however, and I will most likely try it.

pibbur who thinks he looks better in low resolution.

I agree. The graphics in F3 are good for the atmosphere of the game (though a bit too much green for my taste). Some games are just better with their own graphics and besides Morrowind, Stalker also comes to mind.

Is that the morrowind mod?

JDR13 August 9th, 2012 18:19

While I agree the overhaul mod does make it too lush in some areas, Morrowind has not aged well imo. Personally, I don't think I could play it now without some kind of visual upgrade.

@zakhal - Yes.
