War of the stones - totally bugged
MAKE SURE YOU SAVE BEFORE STIRRING THE POT!
Jahrl dies instantly, some "allies" go hostile on you, a certain orc becomes invulnerable and stops the quest completely… Okay, this quest happens late in the game, it's not important if it remains unsolved but we all want XP, right? Can't save Jahrl from dying, can't be sure neutrals/allies won't go hostile… But at least there is a solution to avoid unkillable orc queststopper: http://www.larian.com/forums/ubbthre…&Number=519552 It's not patched yet, just happened on me. Till it gets patched, try with 1 coin trick from that thread. I won't. I want all XP possible there so… It'll be Featherfall. |
You came upon a bug in D:OS?!
I thought this to be impossible. :D |
I did.
The walkaround posted on Larian forum (let sidekick talk to those two immortals then they become killable and then kill them before the final fight even starts) solved it. I went killing all of them one by one except humans in their base and orcs in the tavern, that solved also the cat problem, she didn't turn hostile nor was killed in the process. Jahrl still died, maybe it's intended? |
@Joxer - I actually did this last night - went fine for me? I noticed Jahrl was dead, not sure when that happened (!), but other than that everything went OK. I sided with the humans and none of them went hostile on me (perhaps you accidentally zapped one?) Initially I tried to stay out of it, but nothing happened until I moved back towards the combatants :-/ I though the quest was broken because it didn't resolve at first, but I had to go everywhere to make sure no orcs were left and then talk to one of the northmen - after which they left and it was ticked as done. I hope they manage to make the quest more robust so it works for everyone…one criticism I have of D:OS is that some quests don't trigger when they should e.g. I found evidence of Thelyron's guilt early on, but no one cared. Also, even once you have completed some quests, people don't seem to have new dialogue to reflect that. Kind of breaks immersion. Otherwise I'm still enjoying it, 70+ hours in! I was playing on hard, but some fights were too stressful - and mostly based on having the right gear and feats - so I've dropped back to 'normal' and enjoying a more relaxed experience.

No, humans don't go hostile on you, but the cat which is initially friendly does. ;)
Okay, I could have sided with the rat king and send the cat away before the grand finale which is another way to avoid that problem, but I didn't. I just bought rat king's two legendary items then killed him. And I wouldn't care for that cat glitch honestly, if it wasn't for that unkillable orc that prevents the quest from finishing. But anyway, it's not some gamestopper thing and is not ireparable, you just revert to a previous save and by talking to those two unkillables with sidekicks corrects the problem. As for hard, now when I saw the most of the game I can say - pump up crafting ASAP, go air magic on everyone, choose stun immunity talent, ignore speed but instead build constitution and eventually go glass cannon. Dunno if I'll replay it once finished, but if I do, one thing I'll do definetly different. And that's what HiddenX did. One of mains has to be bows/xbows, sidekicks suck in that role. |
