My anti-virus is blocking rpgwatch, says it has a virus
I have avast anti-virus program, and its blocking the rpgwatch website, it says it has an infection - "URL:Mal" is the name it gives of the infection.
This is the first time this has happened. Can anyone confirm this, or is it something wrong with my anti-virus? Avast has a very good reputation though, so not sure. Or maybe you guys should check it out, and make sure the site isn't infected? I'm accessing rpgwatch through my tablet right now instead of my laptop computer because of this. |
The site is Virus free and we have another thread about the topic.:)
Here is the Link and Myrthos's replies about the problem. Link - http://www.rpgwatch.com/forums/showt…?t=141&page=17 Quote:

Ok, thanks much for the info, I wasn't aware of that. I guess I can put rpgwatch as an exception list so avast won't block it for now, or I might just wait until the clearing process is complete and it doesn't trip avast anymore.
|
Yeah, I can't access RPGWatch anymore except if I use TOR. I use the MVPS HOSTS file, and I think one of the malware links in the HOSTS file blocks my access.
|
The same thing is happening to me.
|
Yeah me too, ever since a few days ago when I couldn't access the site for just about the whole night. My Avast is giving a popup saying that its blocking the www.mediarpg.com banner ads, like this:
hxxp://www.mediarpg.com/ads//banners/banner-5.jpg URL:Mal Nothing else seems amiss though |
The site has been tested by Google to be virus free.

well i just got this while using chrome, hadn't had this msg last couple of days (or actually never) when visiting the site:
The site ahead contains malware Attackers currently on www.mediarpg.com might attempt to install dangerous programs on your computer that steal or delete your information (for example, photos, passwords, messages, and credit cards). |
still blocked here…
|
Firefox also reported it as blacklisted by Google. Chrome on the other hand didn't.
|
Both Chrome and Firefox give me the malware warning - which is incredibly annoying.
|
Yep, Google's "Safe Browsing" system now blocking rpgwatch.com, which means Firefox/Chrome will as well. Got the warning from Firefox just now, must have started in the last few hours.
|
I think the ads from mediarpg.com should be temporary removed until the problem can be resolved!
|
It appears the forum is now affected according to Google. Here is Myrthos's reply.

Both website and forum are being reported as having malware for me by Chrome, but I can still access both by ignoring the warning.
Shame on you Google! |
Well, better now than later. I've got Google fiber on the way! ;)
|
I looks like it is a Google issue rather than an antivirus issue. I don't have a problem accessing the site at home using Firefox with AVG as antivirus. meanwhile at work I get the warning if I use Chrome, but not if I use Internet Explorer.
Let's just blame the Codex. ;) |

I always disable all ads too. Although there are many dumb false positives, real infections through third party ad networks do happen from time to time, and also there's the concern of being tracked by shadowy entities. I'll probably make some donation to the forum at some point to compensate. |
Firefox yesterday suddenly stopped launching RPGWatch.
