Steam curation

Maybe this has been discussed elsewhere, but Steam just added a new curator feature, so are there any plans for an "RPG Watch recommends" page?

HiddenX September 23rd, 2014 23:10

I've added this feature to our RPGWatch Steam group:

Example:

RPGWatch recommends: “Computer Role Playing Games (CRPGs) that are fun to play”

Wasteland 2
Quote:

"This CRPG with turn based combat recreates the fun of the original Wasteland and Fallout games. Try to survive in a post-nuclear apocalyptic world!"

HiddenX September 23rd, 2014 23:16

Divinity: Original Sin
Quote:

Oldschool fantasy CRPG with turn based combat, humor, secrets and many quests. Coop-play with a friend is possible. Ultima 7 meets Fallout - pure fun!

mogwins September 23rd, 2014 23:19

Great! RPGWatch is not showing up in the curator search, but here's the direct link:

We need at least 10 mini-reviews (not longer than my examples) to show up!

Please help me!

Quote:

This free Adventure/CRPG hybrid is designed in the spirit of the Quest for Glory games - have fun!

Zloth September 24th, 2014 02:26

It isn't showing up for me. RPG just shows 10 curators and Watch gets no matches at all! Oh, wait, I think I see why. I'm already part of the RPG Watch group so it automatically counts as one of my curators.

ilm September 24th, 2014 09:51

I can't join the group. It is by invite only :( elite bunch of people

HiddenX September 24th, 2014 10:10

No -

Ah k. There is also a group with a space "RPG watch"

Myrthos September 24th, 2014 13:09

Yes, someone claimed that group and I claimed it back, but as there was already another group you can't join this one.

daveyd September 24th, 2014 23:18

That's quite the list. I'd recommend Shadowrun Dragonfall- Director's Cut. Just finished it the other day. I loved it. Nary a second of filler content. I'll most likely replay again soon.

It improves upon Shadowrun Returns in every way. The battles are more challenging and tactical. Positioning matters. Melee oriented characters are now a lot more viable because of the changes to cover system. The new missions are really interesting and Blitz's personal mission is hilarious. There are choices to make which actually seem to have significant consequences and multiple endings.

HiddenX September 24th, 2014 23:29

Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut
added this:
Quote:

This CRPG improves upon Shadowrun Returns in every way: Battles are more tactical & challenging, the new missions are interesting (with C&C) -> Good!
More text is not allowed (152 char)

Zloth September 25th, 2014 05:20

!! I was surprised to see Last Remnant on there. That's a JRPG! If that's on there then I would toss in Final Fantasy 7, too.

Final Fantasy 7
A classic JRPG! The controls aren't the best but the story makes it all worth while.

How about Baldur's Gate? Is it worth recommending at $25 when GOG has the not-enhanced version for $10?

That's odd - Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer shows up when searching in Steam but clicking the link just goes to the front page. Maybe the game was removed?

South Park: Stick of Truth? Or am I the only one that enjoyed that?

HiddenX September 25th, 2014 09:49

Final Fantasy added
Baldurs Gate (Classic) added
Can't find any NWN game…

Don't know much about South Park - is it any good?

Humanity has risen! September 25th, 2014 18:03

Steam has recommended me RPGCodex as a curator to follow, hopefully it means I have good taste.

I have to admit so far HiddenX seems to be beating them.

HiddenX September 25th, 2014 18:59

Added:
Dishonored
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic
Wasteland 1
Soulbringer
King Arthur: Collection
Dungeons of Dredmor

If you like South Park then yes, it most definitely is. Basically, it's a lightweight RPG where the story is a (long) South Park episode. Very rude, very crude, and you also go to Canada at least once so it's definitely not for children.

HiddenX September 26th, 2014 09:32

Okay:
added this:

Humanity has risen! September 26th, 2014 15:36

I would recommend Eador Genesis instead of Masters of the Broken World if I were you, because the latter is still completely broken software.

Added this one, too - I like them both - tough as nails…

wiretripped September 26th, 2014 20:50

Well, if we're putting RTS- and FPS-games in, then I'd recommend Crusader Kings II, because where else do you get to plot to kill your own inbred little brother to gain his title? ;)

EDIT: Joined the Steam group too, by the way.
EDIT2: Oblivion comes recommended, I see. Kinda of takes away the credibility of the list. :P
