Dragon Age Inquisition - Screenshots (may have some spoilers))

We have to have screenshots! Shows your character shots and anything else you like, although since the game is still new use spoiler tags for screenshots that may show to much.

I usually spend the first day trying out characters. On dinner break so here is my Qunari - some in the creation screen and some in game.

Nice shots, and some nice lighting.

Are those the highest quality textures? If so, I reckon it's time for those texture modders to get busy.

Lol I agree. I have everything set to ULTRA/MAX on my settings. Characters look almost life like though. Outdoors it looks really sweet and some lush wonderful graphics. But I think the textures are not that HR and maybe that is why the camera is limited on how close up you can get (outside of cut scenes).

Had some fun last night with exploring. However compared to Haven, which feels alive with activity and people, Val Royeuix was like a ghost town. It felt very sterile and empty. If they can make Haven so busy it doesn't seem to be an engine limitation for consoles. Shame as the city is great but it needs a lot more life to it.

Am I just an idiot, or do you still have to add Origin games to Steam as non-steam games in order to take screenshots?

azarhal November 21st, 2014 19:45

You should be able to get screenshot by using the Print Screen button on your keyboard.

I get that thing where the screenshot is blacked out (and in windowed mode, only the game window is blacked out).

Print screen is all you need. DAI saves them in a folder for you as PNG files. You can also use FRAPS but the built in tool works seamlessly and is very quick.

Hexprone November 21st, 2014 21:02

lol, thanks everyone but I know how to press the "Print Screen" button.

I have googled up this solution to the problem I was having.

Now that I am doing some stuff outside the Hinterlands the game is picking up nicely. 8/10 seems to be a fairly solid and safe score. Followers are a lot of fun.

Someone figured out how to hide the HUD/GUI finally using the console:

ui.drawenable 0 // 0 is off, 1 is on

Just need to figure out how to get my DOF and I'm golden. Mix of cut-scenes and hidden GUI.

I went back and made a Qunari rogue… and it just didnt feel right.

Like I said - DALISH 4 LIFE!!!

The downside to PS3 is that i cannot take a screenshot of my awesome character, a rogue and member of the Poison Lips Clan. As well as being highly skilled in the use of poisons and traps, they ingest a particularly toxic poison their entire lives, turning their lips and eyes green but making them immune. They sometimes will seduce a foe, killing them with a lethal kiss, lips coated with the toxin.

I went all-in on poisons and traps in Origins, so I want to make this character of the same bloodline. It's a fun way to play, i get tired of just being a crit machine as rogue. Play dirty, it's more fun

My first play through, free of spoilers and full of my "mistakes" in making choices, is my canon and focused on the story and characters. Now I am ready to start my second play through. This will be my thorough one where I will cover all the content and side quests - and get to know all the companions (versus just the ones I wanted to have). A more relaxed and casual pace since my curiosity (to know what happens) won't be driving me through the story.

The problem is deciding who to play. Only like the Qunari and Humans and I already did a Qunari Rogue. I could do a human Mage and hit both the mage and noble dialogues … or do a Qunari Mage and then do a third game with a Human Champion and play up the whole Noble Champion aspect. But not sure I will have the energy for three rounds. Story is a key factor in these games and once I know it then lose some of the interest. Usually two times is enough.

Anyhow I have three characters all level 3 sitting in Haven waiting for me to decide :)

--------------------------------------------

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7577/…26442528_o.jpg

Varg is from a powerful Noble family that is also heavily religious. He is brash, headstrong, and likes to take charge of things. He dislikes his families close minded attitude and restrictive religious influence. When given the chance to help with the inquisition, away from the Chantry and Templar life, he gladly accepted. He is a Champion who focuses on Sword and Shield techniques. Young and eager to prove his worth outside of his family name, Varg sometimes gets in over his head. Luckily his brashness is matched by his skill at weapons which has saved his hide many times. With a ready smile and commanding presence he is a natural born leader.

--------------------------------------------

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8646/…27bb0525_o.jpg

Wolf born to a powerful and well connected Noble family but was shipped off to the circle at a very young age - his Andastrian family wanting little to do with him. Wolf is a calm, sophisticated, and well mannered young man who always tries to see both sides of a situation. When faced with choices he will often analyze both sides carefully before making any decision. While this means he seldom acts rashly it can make him appear indecisive and he has trouble adapting quickly to unknown situations. He specializes in Spirit and Frost magic, both skills reflecting his thoughtful and slow nature. He has agreed to help the Inquisition hoping it will make him a better leader and better equipped to become First Enchanter some day.

--------------------------------------------

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7487/…1502529b_o.jpg

Kveldulf is an apostate rebel mage working for a band of mercenaries. His true parents unknown he was found by a mercenary band as an infant during a raid on a Qunari outpost they had been hired to wipe out. He was raised by two Tal-Vashoth in the band who had fled their homeland instead of being "re-educated" by the Ben-Hassrath.

They use to tell him stories of how mages were made into pet slaves in the Qun and his biggest fear is to be captured by them and turned into one of the Saarebas. He vehemently opposes all things Qun and is suspicious of all other Qunari. He does not consider himself Qunari; he is simply Kveldulf the Mage.

He values the individual and clan ties over society and the community. He would save a friend even if it meant risking the lives of many. A very powerful battle mage Kveldulf has studied the ways of the Knight Enchanter, using his large size and strength to his advantage in battles.

He joined the Inquisition to avenge his fallen comrades who died at the conclave and to learn more about the mark on his hand. Yet as he grows in influence and power among the people of Thedas he begins to learn the importance of the community as well as the individual and strives to find some balance between the two.

joxer December 9th, 2014 15:34

Don't forget that based on your race you get different wartable missions.
Also on the second run (if it happens) I'd try elf to check if I can get elven trust faster and stuff.

For sakes of drama, I suggest definetly taking a different choice with Florianne (kill/capture). The outcomes of that quest are totally different but both are superb!
I admit I "cheated" that one in the first run and reloaded a save to see both outcomes. This was easy to do as it's not a long term choice like for example with Lelianna that shows it's consequences much later in the game (kill/not kill a traitor) which I would love to try the other way.

wolfgrimdark December 9th, 2014 17:20

I plan on making a few choice changes this time - who will be divine, how I handle Lelianna, and others.

No elfs or dwarves though. I don't like playing either of them and there is no point playing the game if I don't enjoy the character I am playing.

Human mage makes the most sense since I then see the Noble and Mage changes that occur in the game (dialogue, missions, etc.). However I admit the fighter is a lot of fun to play and I like the idea of role playing Varg. Like wise for Kveldulf.

Very hard to decide :p Right now I am leaning towards playing both Kveldulf and Varg and just alternating .. course that does mean three times and not sure I will last that long. I suppose I have the time as the only other games that are coming that I will play are Witcher 3 (delayed) and Project Eternity. I still need to finish DDOS though and I am still doing modding and ENB work on Skyrim.

Yea plenty to keep myself busy.

purpleblob December 9th, 2014 21:22

Playing human mage :) I always feel mage gets most out of story in DA universe. I've made some choices dealing with companions and quests, I wonder what outcome I will get in a long run. At the moment I'm argonizing whether I should side with
Spoiler

Question: can you gain/lose approval with advisors or only companions?

joxer December 9th, 2014 21:43

Pick any side. Both have a separate story and different main quests later. Neither is easier from another from what I know.
Save the second choice for the replay. But in the end both choices will lead to the same outcome just with different ways.

The actual difference is which sidekick you want to meet first. If you'd like to have Dorian first, go with mages. If you'd want Cole in your party first, pick templars. You will have them both eventually of course (the second one will come to Skyhold).

You can't lose advisors so no approve/dissaprove with them. You can however romance two of them.
Partytype sidekicks if not at least a bit happy after your choices - will leave Inquisition for good. So just suckup to them all the time. ;)

azarhal December 9th, 2014 21:58

When it comes to companions, even with 0 approval neither Solas or Cassandra will leave. They will hate your guts , refuse to talk to you and you get the chance to punch Solas and see Cassandra drunk.

joxer December 10th, 2014 14:32

I re-did my mage and finally got something I like. I also broke down and picked up Sera, who isn't as bad as I first thought. There first meeting was pretty amusing. Love the facial expressions in this game.

Personality and fights, both.

Yea I tried… Y'know…
Spoiler

I dare to say that Sera is the best written/designed character in DA3. Not that others suck, but she's something special.

crpgnut December 15th, 2014 16:12

Okay, wgd always posts pics of male after male after male. Any chance we can get a bunch of screenshots of the ladies? Not all of us like looking at dudes :)

There is really only one gal in wgd's pics.

joxer December 15th, 2014 17:43

Eh?
There are two. On the second pic is Sera, on the third is Cassandra.

But here, just for you, my favorite villain chick from DA3, commenting the amount of neverending trashmobs:

I believe I did post it before and I assure you, many didn't see this one in their game yet (C&C quest).

Woof! Okay, so not buying the game for the looks I guess :)

joxer January 2nd, 2015 17:12

Huh?
Why not?

The game is full of tits and butts if you're after that.

purpleblob January 5th, 2015 00:30

I would post picture of my Inquisitor, except I'm really not happy with her. She look like pale skinned Josephine. I hate seeing someone who look like me in the game, and I have to see Josie a lot!! (and I happened to like her as well).

I was really annoyed at the fact some of the males (especially Cullen) are so damn good looking including some of male Inquisitors I've seen but there are NO GOOD LOOKING FEMALE Inquisitors! Well, at least not the human ones. Most of human female Inquisitors are slightly different versions of Josie/my Inquisitor. It's annoying!!! And yeah, wtf happened to Morrigan??? She's so hideous to look at now and yet she look terribly familiar! (and sounds exactly the same as well).

Spoiler

Hastar December 10th, 2015 15:26

I have not played this game yet. Do people on the Watch like it? Other then the bear respawns. What does it play like compared to other series or games? Not including the first two games of the series. Would maybe like to play this before I start Fallout 4.

joxer December 10th, 2015 16:06

If a mod that disables those respawns existed, the game would be worth of at least one star more.
Sadly, it's not the only thing the game doesn't do good: horrible tactical WASD controlled view, 8 skills/spells cap on currently available "arsenal", more or less missed opportunity to give war table bigger importance and not using time as currency as the game is not phonegame, horrible inventory, perhaps too many of boring fetchquests as sidecontent, finally whoever decided to put bloody Mass Effect 2 sonar in DA3 should have been fired instantly.

That aside.
The game's main story and it's quests are some of best stuff that you can see in games, especially the spectacular choices&consequences masterpiece material in court dance quest. Areas are biggish and while exploring because of respawns gets annoying, they all feel different just like we had in Gothic 3. The game actually contains some challenging fights which is a nice surprise from Bioware (dragons). Sidekicks and other characters are written well, so well some you'll hate although others adore them and vice versa (example: Sera).

A very good game that could have been a masterpiece if it didn't follow EA idiocies (like MMO mode).
I say buy it.

Is it better than "famous" openworlds released in 2015.?
IMO, it isn't. It's not better than FO4, TW3, nor, if I have to add, MGS5.
It's definetly better than GTA5, then again it's hard to find an openworld that can't be better than that overrated NFS with story game. :D

One more thing, I didn't buy nor have any of DLC. For those wait for others' input. All I know is that DLC is not again Bioware Points scam - which is another positive thing about it.

Why not try it yourself? There is a free demo on Origin. It lets you play for up to six hours or a certain part in the story. Well, the description of the demo says six hours but for me it ended after about three hours and I assume it ended because I hit a certain point you're not supposed to get past in the free trial.

Anyway, it's a pretty generous demo and you could even push it as far as playing the free trial for six hours, then buy the game and return it within 24 hours for a full refund, i.e. you could theoretically demo it for 29h:59m:59s before using the final second to make a lightning-fast keep it or dump it decision ;) .
