Big Bad Wolf Studios - A New RPG Developer

A new French studio called Big Bad Wolf has announced their opening on various websites this week. and it may interest many of you.

As they claim they will to create games the evoke emotion, allow choice that truly matters, and give players a mature gaming experience.

Sounds to good to be true right? Well here the Studios webpage.

BIG BAD WOLF is a new french game developer studio based in BORDEAUX, France. We are veterans of the video game industry (Cyanide, Ubisoft, Blizzard). Our aim is to create a new set-up, specialized in narrative Role Playing Games and which has a true vision of work that blends Professionalism and Lifestyle.

More information.

Well count me interested as they have a new RPG game in development, but haven't shared any details. Also Cyanide helped make a few RPGs I liked in the past.

I don't trust those ex-Ubisoft and Blizzard developers though.

Interesting. Would like to know of they're going to crowdfund or work together with traditional publishers.

The more RPG developers, the better.

Considering they've announced their presence, I assume they're also working on a specific RPG already. It will be interesting to hear more about it. All I can find at the moment is that it seems to be an original IP for PC, XB1 and PS4.

Veterans from Blizzard?
RPG by Blizzard definition?
Not interested. They're calling any grinder as RPG.

Farflame January 6th, 2015 16:04

Maybe they left because they dont like Blizzards attitude towards RPGs, joxer. :)

screeg January 6th, 2015 16:07

Naw, it doesn't sound too good to be true, it just sounds like exactly the same claim made by approximately 10,000,000,000 other RPG developers. And how many of them delivered?

Of course they left because of that! Blizzard didn't want to make phonegames. Let's not speculate why. :D

Farflame January 6th, 2015 16:51

This whole thread is low info and more speculation. :) But its not sure that some ex-Blizzard guys are going to make another Diablo clone. You know, some ex-Bioware guys made Banner Saga… :)

I would rather have another studio making RPGs than *not* have another studio making RPGs. If they make one I don't like I won't buy it. Simple.

I find your ideas intriguing and would like to subscribe to your newsletter . . .

I personally welcome more developers. If I don't like their game, I simply don't buy it :) I don't mind Blizzard game. They had MMO games in mind, and they did fantastic job. I only have a problem when they are trying to be both single player game and MMO at the same time (DA:I comes into mind).

I agree with you purpleblob & other members as I was just joking with my comment.

Banner Saga was a good example of what developers can make without huge publishers. I'm looking forward to playing the second episode later this year.
