Expeditions: Conquistador - The Sequel
The Expeditions: Conquistador Kickstarter page has been updated with information of the sequel they are working on. You can participate in the guessing game of what the next title will be about.

Thanks for reporting this, goes to HHR. More information. |
Wonderful news!
I loved the first game and still feel that it didn't get nearly enough of the attention it deserved. Heck, I myself overlooked it for a long time because somehow I got the idea that it was some kind of RTS-title. As for the sequel, I'd love more of South America. Although Asia, Africa or North America (perhaps in Leif Eriksons expedition) would also be a real treat! |
Good news. The original was really good and has better tactical combat than some games that are far more combat-oriented.
|
Great news. Was not a backer of the original game, but will back the sequel for sure!
Hope it's something more exotic like wasteland or space exploration. But I guess it's some part of Africa. |
New France!
|
I backed the Expeditions game when it was just a vague project expecting some mediocrity good to kill time between interesting games, what I got was great rpg/strategy hybrid with superb soundtrack better than some AAA titles and definetly more fun.
I admit I've totally underestimated them. It was a privilege to be a backer there. So please, shuddup and take my money. |
Good to see a sequel - Expeditions: Conquistador was one of the very few good games in 2013.
|
Expeditions: Conquistador was one of the best games I played in many years. I found it through a recommendation of a friend and could not stop playing it until I finished it.
|
One of the first kickstarters that I contributed to, and what a solid game. I will, of course, be playing this sequel!!
|
Thanks for all the kind words! It's greatly appreciated :)

Good news!
I would like to see this kind of exploration RPG/strategy enhanced. For example we could "build new settlement in wilderness" as first bigger quest. Then you would also need to take care of your town… leave there some hunters and bulders, some soldiers as guards, gather some food for it. And if natives goes wild, they could attack your town too. New locations: - Africa in late medieval/conquistadors age - first European settlers in Canada/North America - East Europe/Asia/Russia in early medieval age… european knights exploring empire of Mongols, Slavs or Avars - Vikings invading England in early medieval age - Reconquista in medieval Hispania - Lesser but ambitious byzantine noble with small group of soldiers dares to explore Middle East and India… before Alexander the Great |
Great news!

Did not expect this at all, very good news; i remember some time after the release, saw some posts on steam were they said they dont know if there will be a studio left since sales were very bad since many didnt hear about the game. No advertise can be your biggest enemy, same with xulima :(
|
It's actually a brave decision because the first game sold very badly. It shows it is a labor of love.
|
Bought the first one when I was trying to find something similar to blackguards in combat. I didn't get far in it as I got distracted by other games.
Might have to look into it again. |

Well, that would be cheating. ^^
They will announce it in about a week in any case ;) |
Good news, indeed. The first was a real nice game. More games should have a histroical setting, if you ask me.
|
Great news !
I loved the first game. I should play it again as a greedy bastard to try and make the king happy. I played as a relatively nice guy on my first go. |
Great!!! Surprisingly (I don't like strategy/rpg hybrid) I loved the first one. The text adventures were glorious. Although, the overland map and travel were equally atrocious.
|
I think they improved the travel options later on. Was after I played through the game, so I can't give details. But I am sure they learnt their part.
|
I liked the game very much so I am looking forward to seeing the sequel.
During the Kickstarter campaign, the developers were actively involved with the community and they gave me a very good and professional impression, which was largely the reason why I pledged. Despite the modest funding, a mere $70k+, they managed to create a good game and made very good use of limited means, such as e.g. text to present the story and characters. IMO an impressive feat, especially considering how other projects with significantly more generous fundings ended up struggling financially. |
They probably had generous subsidies from the Danish government.

Your vision was very limited in addition you were unable to give longer movement orders.
So if you wanted to move from lets say the far east to the far west, you had to basically tell them every 50 meters where to go for the next 50 meters instead of just giving them the final destination. At least that is how I remember it before it was improved. |

What would you accomplish by wanting to move a lot more than you could per day. |
You could still move far more than what was on the screen.
Here is a video of my old let's play (was one of the first ones I did): https://youtu.be/57m6_JQjXVc?list=PL…3X3z6bR5&t=393 From 6:33 onwards you can see how travel basically worked. |
Ah, and this was from the patchnotes of 1.4 which came after my let's play:
- Implemented the ability to set a long-distance path by clicking on a map icon! We're pretty stoked about that. |

I played the finished version as I buy it in a bundle sell (It was not my primary intent from this bundle and played it after I read numerous good reviews about it) .
Previously, I was referring to the pan limit of the overview camera and the increase height of the foliage (you cannot clearly see where you are going) that made the travel a bit of a chore. I think a decrease of the foliage height and an implementation of a fog (instead of locking the camera movement) will do wonders. I think the Heroes of Might and Magic exploration is the golder standard here and it is a pity that they do not take this route. |
Best gaming news I've heard in a while. First game was phenomenal, really looking forward to the sequel.
|
Didn't back the first one, but I would gladly back number 2. :)

I know that Lovecraft lived in QC for a while and made a book about it called To Quebec and the stars. In it he briefly talked about Champlain and said "It's pitiful that this man wasn't born English, and Protestant" |

You really have my admiration for going with such a niche but interesting setting though, like I said. |
You remind me that I need to buy the Champlain biography by Hackett Fisher. :) It's supposed to be the best one about him.
Anyway, I think I would still back the Expeditions:Conquistador sequel even if it was placed in Disneyland. :D |
Good news, I remember reading very positive reviews/impressions of this game and the tactical combat seemed really solid in the videos.
Anyone knows what is going on with their current game (that they are developing) called "Clandestine" which was announced in late 2013 and entered "Early Access" last year ? |
