Witcher 2 choices that will affect TW3.

For people who are importing a save, here's a complete list of the choices in Witcher 2 that will impact TW3.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/wha…/1100-6427400/

It's completely spoiler-free as far as TW3 is concerned, but don't read it if you haven't played TW2 and plan to.

Nice find, JDR13. I am glad to see that those choices affect the quest lines, but I am slightly disappointed not to see these among there:

Spoiler

Granted, numbers 1) and 3) are fairly minor, but 2) and 4) feel big enough to warrant some sort of plot change in TW3.

I'm pretty sure #4 is in the game because iirc that's one of the questions the guy asks you during the choices sequence.

#3 was Síle not Cynthia. (Or does Cynthia do that if you chose Iorveth's path?) Either way, Cynthia wasn't a major character.

#1 was never a choice.

Ah, okay. It didn't see it mentioned in the article you linked.

Yeah, that's on Iorveth's path, and yes, I mentioned that that was minor — though she did spy for the Emperor, so why not?
The Sile thing is in the article, hence not in my list.

Sure it was? But also on Iorveth's path.
Spoiler – TW2

Ah…I thought you were referring to Moril - the Elven woman that Loredo had prisoner. You rescue her after killing Loredo if you side with Roche.

I'm very curious what happens if you choose to not simulate a save state and don't import a save. I'm tempted to play it that way to see what CDP chose to be canon.

*Edit* I'm disappointed to see that importing a save doesn't carry any items over.

That would be interesting… My guess would be the Roche side, saving Triss in the end, killing the dragon.
Not sure about Sile… Let's say… spared. Geralt's a big softie. ;)

Are you really? I'd say one of the incentives of playing a game like this is finding better loot and progressing; if all your fancy swords from last game carried over that "feeling" would be gone.

They could have done what they did in TW2 - your swords and armour were imported, but with lower stats. They were outclassed part way through act 1 but they were a nice small bonus over the prologue equipment.

JDR13 May 19th, 2015 21:42

Yeah, I wouldn't expect to have everything that was in my inventory, but it would have been nice to keep a few things just for continuity.

I wasn't even aware you could import your TW1 save into TW2. :)
Did that affect anything else, other than your starting inventory?

Yes, but nothing major.

When does the simulation happen? I'd think it be at the start, but I'm already running through the countryside looking for Yennifer.

JDR13 May 20th, 2015 09:23

About 2 hours in. Less if you don't stop to admire the countryside.

Thrasher May 20th, 2015 09:28

OK, thanks. :)

It does? Wow, I must be taking it slowly this time around. I've played about 4 hours or so, almost cleared the entire first zone, and I have yet to reach it. I guess it's after the griffin thing then. I won't be doing that until everything else is finished (I like to keep the main quest on hold until every side quest is completed, so they don't suddenly become unavailable, which happens in quite a few RPGs).

Correct, it's after you slay the Griffin.

Weren't you going to import a save though?

Maylander May 21st, 2015 11:10

Yep, I did. I guess the conversation never happens at all then, so no chance to adjust things etc?

Exactly. The scene plays out the same way except you don't get asked those questions. I played up to that point without an imported save and then started over with one.
