BorderZone CRPG - Anyone actually play it?

You guys remember that CRPG that Jaz previewed back on the 'Dot called Borderzone?

Well its been released and is available as a digital download at GamersGate.

Its a 3D RPG that mixes Sci-Fi and Fantasy. The early screenshots looked pretty cool -- at least for 2004 or so.

I was thinking about checking it out, but I can find NO reviews or any information from people that might have actually played the game. Has anyone here played it or know of where I can find some info beyond the standard PR write-ups?

I've wondered the same. I seem to recall it was bad but I have no source for that.

Hmmm … I'll have to see if I can get a copy for review.

Oh, it's been released? I haven't seen any mention of the game after 2005, and there was not a single review… which is probably not a good sign.
Waiting for Mike's review now :).

The game world looks especially cool with its post apoc sci fi fantasy mix setting. Somewhat influenced maybe by the Rifts gameworld?

"What awaits mankind in 9,000 AD? BorderZone is an action role-playing game that challenges players to assume the role of Olaf, one of the few remaining humans on the planet Terra. Forced to leave the safety of their outpost, gamers venture on quests and into battle, controlling up to five characters. Centuries after the downfall of modern man, players find themselves in the world of Terra, an apocalyptic earth where the past and the future have blurred. The tales of the great catastrophe, The Collapse, have been passed down for generations, although the details have faded. Terran elders speak of a time when people possessed unprecedented power over Nature an ancient and now forgotten, witchcraft known as "Science". Players create Olaf from several disciplines, including thief, magician or soldier. Characters are further developed in the game through group affiliations, moral classes and professions.

Each character is able to use several different types of weapons and will is supplied with a quick weapon access mode. There are more than 80 types of close combat weapons and 10 kinds of projectiles. Magicians will have access to binding, paralyzing, blinding, annihilating and various other types of offensive and defensive spells.

Wonder if this is the English version?

I bought it when I was in Ukraine couple of years ago. Didn't seem like a good game. Magic seemed wierd and I couldn't figure out where I would get new spells. Fighting was wierd too, tried to follow the main plot line but got stuck because of a bug pretty early on. Graphics are pretty crappy too, no way to change resolution. Plus there's like no help for it online in English language, so nothing to help you when you're stuck.

I'ld advise against buying unless its for $5 or less.
