Any game can be better because no game is 100% perfect. No matter how big of a fan I am of certain games and developers, I've never played a game where I didn't think something could have been done better.

For TW3, the loot system comes to mind. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't very good either. Item placement felt too randomized at times, and some weapons & armor are level-scaled.

The loot system in TW3 was awful. Randomizing and level-gating was handled very poorly. The level-gating of many enemies was also bad, and the economy was similarly poor (but not very important).

TW3 excelled at combining narrative with open-world gameplay, in a more compelling manner than any game to date. But its algorithmic systems - stuff like loot tables and economy - were nowhere close to the same level of quality. I found all that stuff totally forgivable due to the high bar set by the rest of the game, but I'm a little hesitant about Cyperpunk being even bigger because it's tough to imagine an approach that would build on TW3's strengths rather than its weaknesses.

.

All open world games have these problems. It was far better than how it was done in Oblivion ( remember those high level rats and bandits running in daedric armor…that is "awful") , on par with Skyrim, though they have very different approach.
Gothic games (I &II) did this best, but they were far more simple and sparce on that account and so easier to balance.
I think Cyberpunk will have less problems here, since shooters have typically less emphasis on hoarding.

Skyrim with the Requiem mod made the balancing of loot perfect in my opinion. The obscuro overhaul of Oblivion was pretty neat as well.

Projekt Red would have to be kind of stupid to let gameplay and customization elements get in the way of the story and choices that made their Witcher games famous. Maybe it won't be as well crafted in the story department as The Witcher 3. It's ok. It's the first game in a new franchise, The Witcher 1 wasn't perfect. Anyway, this game is sitting right next to Torment: Tides of Numenera and Kingdom Come: Deliverance in my most awaited list.

But you if you feel CDProdjekt Red is anything like other companies then you don't get them at all.

In the past they were more different than today.
In the beginning they sent out physical christmas cards at least over 4 years - that made them very different for example. They stopped this because it got too expensive i presume.
And there was the pretty unique and for it's time innovative "The Witcher: Versus".

With Witcher 2 and 3 their games became more mainstreamish and for me The Witcher 1 will always be the best Witcher game.

Anyone turning out games like the Witchers, and maintaining a DRM-free platform like GOG, are alright with me. I hope the future of gaming belongs to them and others like them.

I just hope the game comes out before it is actually 2077.

I'm not expecting a great game, but just linear game that has a good story, is full of filler / trash mobs, but moderately better than some other AAA companies sorry excuse for RPGs. It's tough to have a "revolutionary" role-playing experience when your primary focus is on quantity.

I'd personally be much happier with a relatively short game where your characters class / choices you make shape how the game plays out and ends (e.g., Age of Decadence), or at least a branching story structure similar to the first two Witcher games, where one major choice really affects how the story plays out. Unfortunately, with the huge success of "open world" The Witcher 3, CDPR seems to have really bought into the idea that "bigger is better" so there's not much hope for them trying to make a deeper (i.e. tabletop-esque) RPG…

Cyberpunk will be different from The Witcher in that we'll be able to create our player character / choose their role (class) so I have hope for a bit more depth when it comes to customization / character building, but I have a feeling it will be mostly limited to how we kill enemies, not how we complete quests / which quests are even available to us. At best we can hope for a few role-specific quests like the guild quests in Elder Scrolls games.
