Fig takes less fees upfront (in exchange for sharing profits w/ investors), but I think the main advantage is that they use their media connections to help promote your crowdfunding campaign (and of course they only run one or two campaigns at a time) so you may get more visibility. Naturally, this means Fig has a stricter vetting process so it may more work to even get your game on there.

Kickstarter has been around longer and is probably more "trusted" to more people who crowdfund games.

I think it really comes down to how high your goal is. If you're going for a goal of say $10K because you're going to finish the game no matter what then I'd probably say do KS. If you want to raise something higher than the average indie RPG gets on KS, then Fig is probably your best bet.

Thanks for the information.
TH has already cost much much more than an average indie RPG, so we'll consider fig.

Here's a new pic:

Hi guys
I just want to inform you that the game is being tested as a whole.
Due to its sheer size, it will take several months.

Does this mean that you are self funded and will release in 2 months?

We are sort of self-funded, but a couple of planned features are omitted. (Playable races,
rogue/bard/psionic combat styles, additional companions, weapon types, even some quests) We can only put them in the game if the crowdfunding campaign is successful. Also, testing will take much more than 2 months. It's too long & complex.

you October 8th, 2017 21:31

When is crowdfunding planned ?

January would be appropriate.

ok thanks.

Happy New Year, guys.

Although we wanted a campaign this month, one of our main helpers broke his hand, so it's being delayed.

The game is under testing and polishing. Due to its complexity, it'll take a lot of time.

That looks great, already!

you January 14th, 2018 18:34

Thanks. One suggestion is don't do physical goods as they are a lot of efforts. People like them but in the end I'm not sure you will end up ahead.

However, the devil is in the detail. :)

We won't do physical goods whatsoever. It's way beyond our capabilities.

Congratulations on the progress! Looking good. I'll back you when you do the campaign, as long as it isn't Indiegogo :)

Most probably, it'll be Indiegogo. What's the problem with them?

I just wasn't keen on creating yet another account. Kickstarter is definitely my crowdsourcing site of choice, and for most others as well I think. A lot of people view Indiegogo a bit dubiously because they offer the option of a flexible funding campaign.

I assume you're not doing flexible funding (where you keep all the money even if you don't reach the target)? If that's right I'll make an exception for your campaign because I like the looks of this and very much admire your determination to get it finished.

We are not going to use flexible funding. If we can't get the money, we'll forge ahead on our own. The target will be quite low anyway with a couple of stretch goals.

Ok great. I'd still suggest you do Kickstarter though, I think you'll get more support. But in any case I'll break with habits and back you on Indiegogo.

you January 14th, 2018 20:23

Yea I personally only do fig and kickstarter but whatever works for you is fine.

Carnifex January 15th, 2018 02:29

I also greatly prefer the kickstarter platform. I just find it pretty simplistic and honest.
