I knew I mustn't lose faith in inXile!

kuki January 12th, 2017 23:11

If I could I would pre-order this game 1000x…. I am looking forward for my CE kickstarter box and some free time in March to play it.

Thx InXile, I will support you guys forever.

TomRon January 12th, 2017 23:24

My most anticipated game since…forever I guess. And it's looking pretty damn awesome.

Falchor January 12th, 2017 23:29

I actually forgot (I know…) this game was about to come out, so this is a wonderful surprise! It had been in development so long, that I had shut off my New Game guidance systems. They have been powered back on and all systems go!

mercy January 12th, 2017 23:37

Compared to absolutely desecrated unplayable trainwreck Wasteland 2, this gem is something else entirely. Beautiful UI and professional execution as if from a different team. THANK GOD and who ever selected the Torment team!!

NFLed January 13th, 2017 00:49

Seems very good.

Farflame January 13th, 2017 01:02

Nice idea from Inxile.

BTW How did you solve the quest, guys (and ladies)? I tricked Beleazar and helped the creature to escape. It could lead to interesting consequence to meet him later.

CelesteGB January 13th, 2017 01:23

I kickstarted this and can't wait for it to come out!

Yeah, I lied to Beleazar, came back at night and talked to the creature, so the creature escaped. Then I admitted what I'd done to Beleazar. I got closer to the Indigo tide.

Only 150 Steam reviews in 1 year of early access. That's a sign that it's not selling well and likely overpriced compared to similar games. You can find mediocre RPGs released on Steam in the last year with many times the number of reviews regardless of early access or release status.

swapoer January 13th, 2017 05:20

I hope they do right this time, since Wasteland 2 is a rather mediocre and disappointing game.

While I would generally share your skepticism, I do have a strong feeling this is not going to be a train-wreck like the games you are referencing. The team is a high quality experienced team and they seemed to take their time.

I'd bet that its probably that getting beta access was relatively expensive (I havent checked steam cost). If you didn't buy the Beta addon ($20) during kickstarter the minimum bar was $75 to get beta access so that probably cut out a lot of backers. Also dont recall if you could get gog keys vs steam keys so many may have chosen gog keys for the DRM free option and therefore didn't bother with steam reviews.

I kickstartered it so getting it one way or the other but I have a hard time believing this will disappoint. Now back to closing my eyes and covering my ears to avoid getting spoiled before its released.

Finally preordered the boxed version today.

I really hope the disc comes DRM-free as it was stated before. If I am forced to install GoG-Galaxy or (god forbid) STEAM upfront the box will be RMAed unopened.

I really love the system requirements: The games not only runs with 4GB of RAM, but also supports WinXP. That is one fine piece of coding and shows inXile are still improving.

@all Wasteland 2 bashers: I really liked the game (not the SE, though) and I ask you: What more did you expect?

beldurax January 13th, 2017 17:15

Could not STAND the original Planescape: Torment, and so this one holds absolutely no interest. Its a pity Monte Cook did not spend his time building a world and system more worth his time than this. <thumbs down>

Haven't yet played the original Torment game (blasphemy, I know!), but I can't really say this new Torment game is high on my list of RPGs I want to play. Then again I'm not all that interested in Tyranny, either. Recently it seems I've been really into gameplay RPGs and the story ones don't excite me as much. But I'm sure eventually I'll check this out and see what's up with it. The setting looks neat, anyway.

You're speaking from experience I assume? I also found WL2 to be one of the most hyped and overrated games I've ever played.

rjshae January 13th, 2017 19:34

I contributed to T:ToN mostly out of curiosity, but I'm not sure how much I'll enjoy it as PS:T just didn't hold my interest. As for WL2, I enjoyed the parts I played although I still haven't finished the LA chapter yet. It's a decent enough game and you won't see me panning it.

Yep, those are some nice system requirements. It does seem a little lazy though, I heard it will support resolutions higher than 800x600 and more than 256 colors which is kind of a bummer. Also no word on win 3.1/dos 6.22 support or the ability to spend hours configuring hma, dma's and irq's. I suppose I can forgive all that though if they mail me any patches on 1002 5.25 floppy disks. now if you'll excuse me I need to dial in and check my favorite BBS.

Rusty n Edie's?

If a digital game is gold, why not just release it? Seems stupid to announce gold, "which really means that the game is complete and ready to be recorded on physical media", for a digital game. It's just a meaningless click-bait announcement.

fadedc January 13th, 2017 20:33

I really loved Planescape at the time, but if it were to be released today I don't think I'd be so excited by it. Fortunately, this game looks quite different than Planescape in many meaningful ways, especially given that it has turn based combat. So I'm cautiously optimistic, especially if they can keep some of the interesting writing/world building, but with better game mechanics.

Silver January 13th, 2017 21:23

I'm looking forward to it because :
The characters seem interesting, cool and well written and I like isometric style graphics and these are quite nice to look at. Area and world design has been thought about. These locations are embedded in a world and look lived in and occupied.

The music stands out and gets you in the mood for adventure. There is some great reactivity ie choice & consequence with some mystery to unravel. I will play this to completion.

Perhaps there are distribution requirements they need to satisfy? Or maybe the translated versions are incomplete?

Was this supposed to be funny? If it was you failed. The best way to make a niche game succesfull on a platform is to widen its possible installation base - this is marketing 101. On PC you can achieve this by optimizing for several configurations and a high level of scaling - which inXile achieved if you look at the difference between minimal and recommended specs. The installation base for XP is still about 20% of all PCs in western countries (far more if you consider South America, Russia and the whole of Africa) and 4GB of RAM is probably what about 50% of all PCs have. And it is so because of the demanded specs. Have a look:

Grand Theft Auto V: 4GB minimum, 8GB recommended
The Witcher 3: 4GB minimum (unsupported), 8GB recommended
Dying Light: 4GB minimum, 8GB recommended
Far Cry Primal: 4GB minimum, 8GB recommended

You see: No need to cater to the 8GB minimum crowd - in fact that makes a 64-bit only production unnecessary.

Point proven.

P. S.: If you want to understand how badly indie games are hurt by "64-bit", "DX10+" or "Vista and newer OS" tactics, you just have to take a look at the sales of "Krater"! It could have sold far better if it wasn't coded in such a lazy way.

SirJames January 14th, 2017 13:42

Who didn't save the monster in their interactive video sidequest? :)

I lied at first then told the truth. So chaotic!

Yep, I thought it was so silly that would be obvious. Tough crowd, I guess.

Sorry you wasted your time proving a point I was never questioning or cared about.

you January 14th, 2017 17:36

I hope i finish witcher 3 before it is released.

Come on, don't be silly. Who has a monitor that does 800x600? They need to just focus on 640x480 and not waste time with all these ridiculous "enhancements". :P

There will be a retail release so yes publishers across the world need to print and distribute the game.

Aha! So there is physical media. Well, then I guess those that are interested in this, get to wait a little longer. I have no interest at all yet, but could be sold if plenty of people here enjoy the game.

Sir_Brennus February 28th, 2017 18:00

Aaaargh!

I am furious with rage!

Today my Torment box arrived - and guess what: it comes with STEAM DRM-crap!

They omitted the Warning on the box shots!!!

What am I supposed to do?

joxer February 28th, 2017 18:12

Two options. First, play it on Steam or google for crack - I'm not recommending this because Steam is not hurting PC like other older DRM crapware. Second, ask if anyone with GOG key would switch for Steam key.

JDR13 February 28th, 2017 18:27

I got my key a few hours ago, but I probably won't start playing until next week. I also got a DLC key for something called "Mindforged Synthsteel Plating". Anyone know what that is?
