Everything I read and heard about the game sounds incredible. It's pretty ambitious and let's hope they can pull it off, so this doesn't become another Mandate or god forbid Sword Coast Legends.

I actually like that it is a Russian dev. They always have great ideas regarding mechanics and I like the gritty (in general) style. Though, they are always lacking in the story departement, but that's what we have the "Living Strechgoal" for.

NewDArt June 7th, 2017 07:27

Implement coop and I will back it :)

Morrandir June 7th, 2017 08:30

Backed.

Quick rundown of the checklist…
- PC
- Non-console (not even as a stretch goal!!!)

- Class system.
- Based on existing thought-out battle system.
- Masses of lore to draw from (nobody has to create a whole unique world in 12 months)
- English German French Russian language support.

Yes its RTwP…. a minor issue! Read description below, 3 seconds not exactly an action game.
"Yeah, our combat is realt-time with pause. Characters will use individual real-time turns base on their initiative, each of which will last over three seconds"

Its 90% of what everyone says they want. Unless you see some red flags I can't see why you wouldn't back this. How often does this type of game come around? I know some of you have built up some ideal game in your head but I'm fairly sure that ideal will never be worked on. Might as well support the guys that are making a good attempt.

PS - 100% willing to eat my words on this one if it turns into a shit-show.

Those are btw answers to questions I posted because I wanted to make sure this was more like BG instead of PoE or (shudder) SCL :D

Also they confirmed there will be metamagic (and it is shown in that gif where mage casts two spells fast)

This is why I said I'll wait. Don't need another wasteland case.
They add it, me gone.

Maylander June 7th, 2017 09:55

That really did look better than what we've seen so far. I'm in for the premium digital thingymajig. Make it happen, Owl.. stuff.. people.

NewDArt June 7th, 2017 09:56

I just checked out the campaign and I'm tempted.

However, no coop and Unity means I'll be holding off for now.

But here's hoping it's everything you guys want it to be :)

booboo June 7th, 2017 11:17

How much of the game will revolve around resource management/building stuff? I really loathe that kind of thing - why I stopped playing War/Starcraft back in the day. I want to adventure with my merry band and uncover interesting plots etc, not really manage a kingdom or constantly be waiting for someone to attack my town(s).

you June 7th, 2017 11:49

I'm mixed. Evil Island has a good reputation (never played it). Like silent storm but was not a fan of HOMM V.

My guess is that more than 75% of the game is going to be standard adventuring and stuff. The rest is going to be building, managing and doing diplomacy and conversations connected with being a Ruler.
If you mean just building and managing it through menus and stuff, I doubt that will be more than 5% of the total gameplay.

So the product is turn based as it was suggested.
Now it is not a minor issue. Tyranny does not play faster (easy to find actions whose completion takes more than three seconds)
Either completion of an action in this product takes several turns (like casting a spell taking three turns and 9 seconds) or turns can not overlapse (does not seem to be the case from the vid) or the separation in turns helps players to get a fluid thought process or that is trouble.

Tyranny does not play faster and players can not play Tyranny RTwP.

Russian dev teams which always seems to match with "games with lots of bugs" from my experience (not necessarily bad games though). Also, My.com is publishing this, but I suspect a single player game won't require their awful launcher like their MMOs do.

I'd be surprised. I don't think there's any relationship with Obsidian. From the kickstarter video I caught glimpses of Unity, so I guess they're using that as base game-engine-tools.

My.com and Obsidian worked together for two games. One of which, Skyforge, was the last game (some of?) the people at Owlcat Games worked on. Also, Paizo has a relationship with Obsidian and they [Obisidian] did a survey for Paizo about a possible Pathfinder RPG (which made a lots of people think Obsidian was going to make it).

Also, the UI of the alpha on the KS looks a lot like POE1, they just moved the elements around. It probably won't look like that at release though.

I have no idea what you are saying.

You are at least brave enough to try to read it. I just skip reading all of his posts. They kind of made sense for a while but he is back to his old self again.

forgottenlor June 7th, 2017 16:40

Wow too late already for the early bird. I backed anyways. I love the Pathfinder ruleset! Also Nivial made some very good games. I hope they haven't lost their touch!

Its a small team and the POE engine makes complete sense for a game like this. I also wouldn't be surprised if they decide to use it.

SpoonFULL June 7th, 2017 17:07

So has it been confirmed that they will be using Unity as their game engine?
