I noticed the same. He waits considerably longer before attacking than the others.

Any confirmation that the Bookworm and reading XP is working properly? I still don't see the "Gained 10 xp" indication 95% of the time I read stuff. I still got the Bookworm skill hoping it's working "under the hood", though.

Any way to know for sure?

Bookworm has always worked since the patch. You're just not always seeing the +10 or whatever experience onscreen because it doesn't show while you're reading the book, note, etc.
