Does anybody know the differences to the last one?
They are fascinating little games. |
I read thru some of the changes. Seems like they made changes to make the game move faster and can give armies orders for longer then one turn. People seem to like the changes so far. Mostly quality of life changes it looks like.

I haven't actually played it yet, but the biggest seem to be "real time" combat resolution, meaning both sides move at the same time instead of alternately, and bless effects customized by the player.
New iterations of Dominions are kind of like big patches, although I've found once you've played them, you don't feel cheated and don't want to go back to the previous version. |
I actually think this looks interesting…
I am always up to find a good fantasy strategy game. something to replace MoM rofl! So many tries, and so many fails to modernise / remake MoM (well not complete fails). Not saying this is a MoM remake, just a potentially enjoyable fantasy strategy game. Must admit that total war series is pretty awesome though! Although I get a little tired of tactical battles (take so long)… have to be in the mood. ("Mood?! Mood is a thing for cattle and love play, not fighting" Quote from the movie dune where patrick stewart rebukes Paul) |
The movie Dune? You gotta read the books! That movie was a disaster :D
It is a very interesting game. If you enjoy thinking up builds you'll have a great time. In character creation you pick a god and have Design Points to spread between magic and dominion. Magical ability will not only give access to more powerful spells, once researched, but also enhances the Bless spell from your priests. Dominion effects your lands with things like bonus income, resources, growth, etc but you can gain more design points if you take a penalty on your dominion. |
So how do these games compare to the paradox games ?
|
Dom5 doesn't have any diplomacy but you can watch the battles play out.
It's very combat oriented and fast paced. If you start with your god awake expand with him right away its almost like an RPG character sandbox where you build a god then see how many armies he can fight. But it depends which god you pick because some are giants with 200 hitpoints while others are just human mages with 10 but have advantages in other areas such as low cost learning new magic schools. Or forget about the god, start with him imprisoned for 3 years and focus on a healthy dominion and building lots of troops. |
