Sacred Gold
Put a few hours into this over the last 2 days. I actually enjoy it a lot and love the hand drawn high resolution environment. The action really escalates in this game as you level. But what is with the escort quests? My last one had a cow herder who wanted me to escort her to a rustler camp to get her cows. Yeah. She died. What a shock! In fact she only made it about 2/3rds of the way. I was far too busy dealing with hordes to even have a chance to protect her. Not that a few failed quests matter as there are tons of quests but the land is far too lethal to be running escort. Oh and nice walkthrough series Fluent. I watched a few it was fun.

Did Fluent walkthrough Sacred Gold or Sacred 2?
Whichever it was, his videos disabused me from playing, because of the ridiculous enemy level scaling and tedious respawns. |
Oh the respawns are outrageous. But it’s only an issue backtracking. That is without a doubt my least favorite feature but the game is just fun. For now anyway. It still has the new shine to it for me. I’ll report back after a dozen more hours or so.

Regarding the scaling it is scaled by zone like any statically populated RPG. If you hang around the same area leveling eventually the mobs get grey circles and are only hostile if you literally walk into them. It’s is definitely not Elderscrolls scaling.

Good to know.
Thanks! |
which is more enjoyable sacred gold or sacred 2 ?

I would have to say for me, Sacred Gold. My brother and I finished that one several times via multiplayer-LAN many years ago. We couldn't really get into the second game, which felt somewhat mechanical, dry and less interesting by comparison. Perhaps the formula had worn thin for us in the end.
But Sacred Gold was arguably one of those quintessential Diablo clones for action-rpg fans. The combination system was fun to tinker with and I remember feeling in awe of how large the game world was at the time. Then again, I always saw this genre as a fun distraction from more classical RPGs. |
It is a distraction but I needed something light and fluffy. I’m just too busy at the moment to digest more complex games. I’m playing Sacred Gold on an Ultrabook on the train for the most part. One hour session chunks. The fun is all in managing your build and gear and watching it’s effect as you progress. I have to say the spell animations are pretty awesome particularly Stoneskin. And the character models fully render your gear which I just love.
