Cyberpunk 2077 Release Date?

Yes well another week and another rumor this time about CD Projekt RED might be releasing Cyberpunk 2077 earlier then what was said in past interviews.

As per a new financial report delivered by the management board of developer CD Projekt RED, the Polish studio will not be paying dividends to its stakeholders for for the current financial year, and there’s a very real possibility that this could mean that the reveal and the subsequent pre-release marketing campaign for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 are very close.
I'll throw in my short opinion, and say I hope its releases sooner.

azarhal April 23rd, 2018 17:19

I don't think them starting marketing this year is a surprise ever since that *beep* last January, but the game can still release in 2019… (beyond that and CDProjekt will miss one of their projection of releasing two AAA games before 2021).

joxer April 23rd, 2018 18:19

That dividends logic is flawed. Apart unknown AAA product(s) azarhal mentioned, Gwent is supposed to get a thorough rework prior to October launch (unless it didn't already, I don't follow news about betas much, sorry).

Zloth April 25th, 2018 05:42

Release date was right there at the end of the original trailer:
when it's ready

wolfing April 25th, 2018 14:07

Or maybe they'll pull a Cleve and make it so 2077 is the release year.

Dragonfly May 2nd, 2018 01:21

Word has it that CDR will have a game at the E3. Maybe we'll learn more then. Only if these rumors are true, of course.

CelticFrost May 2nd, 2018 01:27

I personally still believe the game won't be released until the new PS5 and whatever the new Xbox are ready to come out.

I am sure all the major players have the specs to make their games so they run on them.

Nah, it's still at least 2 more years for any new console generation to come out.

You sure?

First comes the rumors.
A year later comes the announcement.
A year later comes the pre-release hype.
A year later comes the console.

It might not stretch out THAT far, but it might end up being like GTA V did where it released at the very end of the generation and was quickly ported to the new systems.

joxer March 13th, 2019 14:46

How about no. CDprojekt is not consolecentric publisher who'd fail to include hairworks in PC port of the most overhyped and overrated mediocrity.

A creative agency called Territory Studio that worked on the motion title card for Cyberpunk accidentally may have given a release window for Cyberpunk 2077.

Their site was shortly updated and the date had been removed.

Zloth March 14th, 2019 03:56

Suddenly, I really hope so. I want to see this thing while 3D Vision is still going!

Couchpotato March 14th, 2019 04:51

Well all these leaks say 2019 but major sites keep saying no. Who to believe?

Think I'll stick with my insider information.
Quote:

Well it won't be a summer release as E3 is in June.

It would make more sense to release on the holidays to maximize profits. Also current insider information thinks it will be re-released on the new consoles like GTA 5 was.

So it will be released on the PC, XBox One & PS4 possibly late 2019. Followed by a re-release on the newer consoles for 2020-2021. Don't know the console names yet.

StealthArcher March 18th, 2019 12:52

It'd be nice for the game to be released this year, but I wouldn't mind waiting for another year. I'd rather wait a bit more than get a buggy game.

joxer March 18th, 2019 13:40

I don't think it's buggy. When demo was presented, the game was supposed to be fully playable (with placeholders and of course tons of bugs). A long time passed since then and whomever was recently recruited, my best guess is either collecting scrapped ideas and starting development of the sequel or using those scrapped ideas in some expansion. Hopefully it's not DLC but a sequel.

In other words, I believe the game is in Skyrim state thus it can hit the market tomorrow. However, CDpr are nitpickers and won't do it. Before they correct every single problem they're currently aware of, we won't see the game.

That's what I like about them. That's why I said I don't mind waiting a bit more if it's needed.

azarhal April 5th, 2019 17:42

A Finish game shop was told October 18th 2019 for the game release by their distributor (they twitted it than removed the tweet).

Well, that would be a first, thier first 3 games had bugs.

Witcher 1 was a mess on release and that prompted the free EE. 2 and 3 were less buggy but still had thier fair share at release.

It was? It had three huge patches in the first week it released (release day -19th-, on the 21st and then the 25th). They added basic features like the stash that was in the previous game in July. There was an enormous patch a few months later in October (with 600+ bug fixes) which was patch 10 of 22…and none of those patches were small outside hotfixes of patches (there was a few) and adding 4k and PS4 pro support patches.

Considering the amount of bug fixed, I'm surprised TW3 wasn't considered a bugfest personally. It's great CDProjekt is so committed to post-launch support though.

Ripper April 5th, 2019 19:18

Yeah, every game ships not only with bugs, but with known bugs.

Maybe they fixed them so fast I didn’t notice as much. I do remember Witcher 1 being especially buggy, but it’s entirely possible that 3 was just as bad.

My point was just that saying CDPR will fix every bug before release of 2077 is laughable.

There post release support though is stellar.

JDR13 April 6th, 2019 21:22

The reason you didn't notice a lot of bugs is because most of them were very minor. Overall, TW3 was incredibly polished for a game of its size at release.

Here are the complete notes for all the patches released for TW3. https://thewitcher3.wiki.fextralife.com/Patch+Notes

As you can see, there's been some exaggeration about the number of bugs, especially in those first 3 patches which were far from huge.

There have been a lot of patches over time though because CDPR seem to be almost OCD about fixing every little thing, and like you said, their post-release support is stellar. If only every developer was as diligent.

I just wish they could make a patch to fix the terrible loot system. :)

I checked this list which list fixes for all platforms. Fextralife only list PC fixes it seems (using Steam as source).

I assumed he played the PC version as most people here did. Either way, how would fixes for a platform other than the one you're playing on be relevant?

Couchpotato April 22nd, 2019 13:52

According to a new leak it will release this year on November 28.

That would be cool, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm still thinking December at the earliest but 2020 more likely.

you April 23rd, 2019 11:49

If history is accurate regardless of release date it will take a few quick patches to iron out the worse of the issues and a year or so to get the minor niggles.
