Gears Tactics was shown off at E3, which is set 12 years before Gears of War 1.

Surprised me too, but I blame it on the stench of the Gears of War franchise. Regardless of how XCOM'ish your XCOM clone is, that's a stench that'll really linger and be hard to wash out.

Does Gears of War really have such a bad reputation? I haven't played it because I'm not a shooter fan, but I was always under the impression that at least the early ones were pretty well received.

Depends on who you ask.
But what I really meant is that most people who are into this kind of XCOM'ish game probably think Gears of War blows (same goes for all dumb shooters in general). |
