Btw, in case anyone was wondering, there is content in Cyberpunk that isn't sign-posted by icons. I found all sorts of things in the Badlands. I caught a body slumped against a car out of the corner of my eye, circled back, and found a unique conversation shard. I saw a cluster of buildings, headed there, and found the aftermath of a photo shoot gone wrong. Etc.

And if you're avoiding crime stuff because you figure there's nothing to it, don't. Some of them very much tell little stories. A spoilery example if you want one:

TW3 wasn't nearly this buggy at launch, and the AI in CP 2077 is definitely worse. In its current state, that's not even arguable. I'm still enjoying the game, but there's no need to be apologists here.

Hopefully these are things that can be changed over time with patches. I don't expect the loot system to be improved, but they should be able to tweak the AI.

I hope the next patch at least fixes all the NPCs in a given area running away and cowering just because I bumped into someone while accidentally dashing.

Just finished my Corpo play-through and I loved it. Around 73.8 hours to finish.

I chose an ending that makes sense given the story and how it's explained. I'd give the game an 8.0/10 but would have given it a 10 if not for all the bugs, and glitches.

Spoiler – Ending

This is something else. Sony has removed CP2077 from sale on PSN and is offering full refunds.

What a clusterfuck …

Indeed, this is smoldering into something more ugly than what happened with Fallout 76 and Anthem. Jesus.

Over 70 hours in a week! I am impressed :)

Ok, this is slightly better. Seems Sony didn't kick them off on their own. Seems there was some cooperation with CDPR on this. That, or they're trying to save face.

[UPDATE: CD Projekt RED's management board released a statement regarding the removal of Cyberpunk 2077 on Sony's digital storefronts.]

Subject: Temporary suspension of the availability of Cyberpunk 2077 on
PlayStation Store

Legal basis: Art. 17 section 1 of the Market Abuse Regulation – inside
information

The Management Board of CD PROJEKT S.A. with a registered office in
Warsaw (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) hereby publicly
discloses the decision of Sony Interactive Entertainment (hereinafter
referred to as “SIE”) to remove Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store
until further notice. The decision was undertaken following our
discussion with SIE regarding a full refund for all gamers who had
purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store and want a refund at this
time. All copies of the game previously purchased digitally on
PlayStation Store remain available for use by their respective buyers.
Gamers can still buy physical versions of the game in retail and mail
order stores. All copies, whether digital or physical, will continue to
receive support and updates from the Company.

The Management Board of the Company has decided to publicly disclose
this information in the form of a current report due to its potential
influence on investment-related decisions.

Plenty of free time with the kids gone and being disabled helped.:shh:

As for that whole Sony disaster looks like CDPR lost another 20% in stock damage, and that's not counting how much the refunds will end up costing them in the end also.:(

Not good. If what the article says is true, seems there's a bit of mutiny inside CDPR. That's not good for fixing the game. :D

But leaving aside my own selfish reasons, it really sucks for the development team if that's the relationship currently at play between company management and the working teams. I hope they managed to pull together. But I wonder if it's possible consider trust was likely broken beyond repair between the two.

They sound a little disgruntled, but I don't see them abandoning a game they worked that long on because they're pissed at some suits. Some might leave, but I don't anticipate a mass exodus or anything like that.

Yeah, I hope not. But this can't really go on, I guess? They most certainly lost good people after the crunches during Witcher 3. Now, they'll likely lose some more. The good people that know they're good will not really stand and be abused, unless they have a real good reason to. And then they're stuck with the people that can't leave. Or don't want to leave.

"One employee asked the board why it had said in January that the game was “complete and playable” when that wasn’t true, to which the board answered that it would take responsibility"

So the board did not just lie to us consumers, but they also lied internally to their team? Great!!!!!

Same lie. They said that publicly, and the devs looked at each other and said "it is?"

I can only wonder how was the game in January/2020 if we had to play it back at that month

Couchpotato December 19th, 2020 02:14

Just an update and it doesn't look to good on the stock side as CD Projekt shares keep falling like rotten apples. The Estimates forecast it cost the company 1.6 US billion.

Lost 41.01% since December 3rd and 18.7% ( and counting) after Sony removed CP2077 from it's digital store. I wonder if a buyout from another publisher is incoming?

Also it looks like the free DLC and expansions might be put on hold as well.:(

Edit : To clarify it's not just Cyberpunk 2077 as GOG had a PR disaster this week also.

Stocks aren't necessarily an indicator of how companies are doing. Take it from someone who deals with them on a daily basis. They often rise and fall based on sentiment rather than a company's profitability.

It's also possible that it was overvalued and is correcting now.

There's definitely some of that occurring. I don't have the exact number, but their stock shot way up a year or so ago, and I don't know that it's gone down below that ~2019 number.

Ripper December 19th, 2020 02:59

Yeah, share price doesn't necessarily reflect the health of a company, but it does tend to loom large in their thinking, and affect their decision-making. I'm guessing they made the decision that the rushed release blowback would be less damaging, and spook the shareholders less, than another significant delay.

I suspect there's very some stressed folks watching that share price, but I would imagine that if they really polish things up, and perhaps make a big goodwill gesture like a piece of major DLC for free, they will recover.

More positive news a major patch will be released on the 21st of this month.
Quote:

GameStop employees reportedly passed along a memo from higher-ups to VICE's Patrick Klepek (via Wccftech). According to Klepek's reporting, the memo notes that CD Projekt RED aims to deliver a patch on December 21st, which should represent a "major fix" for the glitch-filled role-playing title. If customers still aren't pleased with the product's post-patch state, the message advises staffers to direct customers to CDPR for their reimbursement needs. The full memo begins with GameStop stating the message is being relayed "on behalf of our partners at CD Projekt RED,"

Hotfix 1.05 just came out on consoles with PC soon to follow.
