Kingmaker - Meet The Companions

A new Steam update for Pathfinder: Kingmaker introduces the companions.

Quote:

Dear Pathfinders,

Pathfinder: Kingmaker was made possible thanks to the help and support of our community and our backers on Kickstarter. Over the past year, we have shared stories and updates about the game's characters, as well as a closer look at the core mechanics, visual effects and many other behind the scenes details about our game and the people working on it.

Our community has grown considerably since our Kickstarter days. Not everyone who knows about Pathfinder: Kingmaker today was around during our crowdfunding stage. We are happy to welcome a lot of new members in our community, who have missed our early updates. And that's why we'll be posting retrospective updates over the coming days, which will give everyone a chance to catch up on what has been revealed about the game thus far.

In our first retrospective update we're giving you the opportunity to get a closer look at ten of the companions, who will join you on your quest to conquer the Stolen Lands. They are:
Valerie, the Brevic fighter
Ekundayo, the grim ranger
Jubilost Narthropple, a humble servant to no one
Octavia, the gleeful half-elf with a talent for magic and sleight of hand
Regongar, the meanest magus on this side of the Inner Sea
Amiri, the iconic barbarian
Harrim, the brooding cleric of Groetus
Tristian, favorite of the Everlight
Linzi, your personal chronicler
Nok-Nok, the goblin companion, who started out as a stretchgoal

Keep your eyes peeled for more retrospective updates in the coming days!

Hail to the Kings!
Owlcats

More information.

They must of used the wrong image

purpleblob July 20th, 2018 15:48

Hmm… I wonder why they don't talk about Jaethal in their update.

Carnifex July 20th, 2018 17:04

I see that they have an official release date now, September 25th. That's earlier than I expected.

I'm sorry, but that image smacks of androgyny ;)

Nothing wrong with that, though.

@lostforever

With your new avatar, maybe you should call yourself "genderlostforever"? ;)

rjshae July 20th, 2018 18:52

No druid, monk, or paladin companion it appears. Perhaps in an expansion?

My most anticipated RPG game this year. Just hope it's not a bug-fest as I'm basing this opinion off previews, and Watcher opinions of the Beta. I wont touch the Beta myself.

I remember a poll a few months back where Paladin lost.

The last poll offered three other choices. Elemental won.

Well, the problem is that there are real issues getting lost in the irrational zealotry. It corrupts any meaningful exchange and creates the illusion of a problem that's at least as big as the real one - but which doesn't actually exist.

It's looking pretty good. That said, it will have to be very good indeed to surpass PoE 2 for me.

Take away the pudding bowl haircut, and I think she looks a bit like Lena Headey.

I wouldn't have her executed for trespassing in my bedchamber.

So now the question is if she's a Cersei-expy.

But I agree.

Darth Tagnan July 20th, 2018 21:58

Yeah, a different haircut would help a lot :)

That said, to each his own and all that.

Exactly a week after Bard's Tale 4…gonna be a busy fall. Underworld Ascendant is supposed to be September too although they haven't said what day.

That haircut seems eminently practical for wearing a knight's helm. It provides some extra padding, but there's nothing for a foe to grab during a fight.

The game's also on preorder at GOG now.

you July 21st, 2018 00:34

Why do people pre-order ? I mean can we run out of copy of bits being sent down the pipe or something? And while I hope this game will be fantastic I rather wait a week or two until reviews shed some-light on the game; after all I can't possibly play every good game (much less every game) released these days; I have to pick and choose :)

She deliberately cut her hair short so people don't bother her that she's beautiful. I don't think she look bad but don't think Owlcat should have given her "legendary" beauty status because its hard to match everyone's standard (and it attract trolls).

I am glad that none of the companions is a Paladin, as my PC will be one.
If the game is anything like the tabletop then you can assign roles to the companions for the Kingdom mechanic.
I will probably use:
Ruler: PC – Paladin
Councilor: Harrim
General: Valerie
Grand Diplomat: Linzi
High Priest: Tristian
Magister: Regongar
Marshal: Ekundayo
Royal Assassin: Nok-Nok
Spymaster: Jubilost
Treasurer: Octavia
Warden: Amiri

Yep, you can assign companions and other selected NPCs as kingdom advisors.

I'm tossing between paladin and fighter/mage as my main PC. I usually play cleric but there are already 2 good clerics available as companion!!

Carnifex July 21st, 2018 02:22

Yeah, I never pre-order any more. I used to, but now lots of the games I'm waiting on are kick starter releases, or nothing that I need to desperately play immediately. Certainly with the way I wait for patches and updates, I'm usually in no hurry to play quickly, but I used to be, when games were actually release intact, for the most part.

rjshae July 21st, 2018 05:07

D&D v3.5 druids are a lot of fun, so I'll probably go with that for the first pathfinder play through and see how it holds up.

It bytes when they run out of bits.
