Was it revealed?:

"Former BioWare boss will reveal his online RPG at The Game Awards - GamesRadar
Flynn dropped a teaser for the announcement on his personal Twitter account, saying that the studio planned to reveal its project as part of the big awards show. Most of what we know about the unannounced game comes from a 2019 Game Informer interview, where it was framed as an online RPG. Though parent company Improbable has avoided calling the project an MMORPG, it does seem to be taking aim at that overall part of the games market."

Not pure RPGs but RPG elements at best.

Ah OK, I will see what they mean by adventure if you say it is not RPG. But still Gollum and Star Wars! I actually loved those old games about Bilbo adventures, it looked like those old adventure games, but you could roleplay Bilbo (or some hobbit) if you know what I mean.

Yeah I get you but the games aren't even advertised as RPGs. Action Adeventure games with RPG elements like I said not to confuse readers. You don't see Pure RPGs from big developers nowadays. That's a shame as Starfield looks to be the only one next year.

Yes, this trailer of Steelrising is really something! :)

EDIT: right, Nightingale. I was waiting for more information, but when I saw it was another survival I lost interest and decided to wait for something more substantial on the game.

Agree it looks good but it hasn't gripped me like their past games. The setting and main android character just don't interest me. Might be the first game of Spiders I wont buy.

I wish they would go back to the Mars Techno-master setting.

Yep it's similar to Conan Exiles and more of an online building survival game.

Dafela December 12th, 2021 00:25

OK thanks :) I was looking at the info more and if it would be like Detroit: become human in Star wars universe, it could be interesting. In their trailer there are different characters with some places where they could live, that could give some of the "starwars live in movie or more like TV series" feel.

Nightingale could be interesting - the setting of New World and Conan Exiles survival, but Im very selective with survivals, not because I would understand them, but because not all of them are fun for me, so I will see.

It is the end of 2021, so it's time to look back and take stock of the year that was and look forward to 2022. We do this every year, but this year seems different than the others even 2020, which was by every measure a difficult year in itself.
Cyberpunk 2077 The Strange, Unfinished Saga - The New Yorker
Quote:

Watching the events of the past year unfold, speaking with people at CD Projekt and with people who know their games, I’ve thought often of my conversations with Mike Pondsmith, and his account of creating Cyberpunk more than three decades ago. When I last spoke with him, he had just finished wrapping up Cyberpunk Red, a new rule book for the tabletop game that brings its calendar up to the twenty-forties. In Cyberpunk Red, a computer virus renders much of the Internet functionally inoperable, diminishing the power of the megacorporations. “I was really fascinated by the fact that most of what we actually eat, wear, drive, whatever, is moved around the world at ridiculous distances, and it manages to show up just in time when we need it,” he told me, describing his thought process as he worked on the new edition. “When that breaks down all of a sudden, you know, half your fruit just disappeared, your components for the phone over there just disappeared. All those things are interconnected. And what we’re asking is, well, what happens when they’re not? How do we live in that society? Does everything grind to a halt or do we figure out new pathways?”¯

Telepath Tactics being Remade into Telepath Tactics Liberated
Quote:

For those who never played Telepath Tactics, Telepath Tactics Liberated is a deep and engaging strategy RPG built upon the combat mechanics of Telepath games past, albeit with layers and layers of tactical depth poured on.

Featuring a cast of dozens of engaging characters, a well-told story, 72 classes, more than 150 skills, branching promotions, and mechanical depth still not seen in any other strategy RPG to date, Telepath

Tactics Liberated is an SRPG fan's SRPG. Think Fire Emblem, but with trees and foliage you can hack through; the ability to place traps; the power to build bridges or barricades on the fly; the option to shove enemies off cliffs, to pull them into water or lava, or to hurl them into each other for crushing damage. All of that is here and more!
Thronebreaker A Worthy Entry in The Witcher Series - PCGamer
Quote:

Since the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, fans of CD Projekt Red have largely fallen into two camps. The first is in denial, desperately clinging to the studio’s commitments to make Cyberpunk better. The second has already moved on, accepting the loss and burying its hopes for future games to rival The Witcher 3. I’m here to tell you there’s a third way through the grieving process: Play Thronebreaker, CD Projekt's card-based RPG. It’s out now, and has been since 2018..

Jeff Vogel - Can We Even Put Human Stories in Video Games Anyway?
Quote:

A really good, polished game that tries something different? Oooh! Let’s dig into this!

My family just finished playing the hit co-op game It Takes Two. It's a two-player-only adventure through the mysteries of the human heart. I played it with my wife, and our teenager who was on hand to help us out when the game got too hard.

It's a very fun game with very unusual writing, and it's extremely and deservedly popular. A good topic for thoughtful criticism. Or at least making cheap jokes.

(Also, since I wrote this, it won Game of the Year from a popular infomercial.)

We enjoyed It Takes Two immensely. We loved the gameplay, we loved the visuals, and we loved loathing and mocking its characters.

It Takes Two is unique because, under all the flash and platforming, it’s about a family working through its problems. That is a unique and ambitious stretch for video game storytelling, so it deserves a good look.

Putting human stories in video games is a hard problem worth looking at. There are two big traps here: 1. The medium just makes it really hard. 2. Once you try to say anything complex about humanity, the Internet will scream at you, and it’s hard to ignore that.

Lionhead Studios A Misstep for Microsoft - PC Gamer

Hogwarts Legacy Might Have Multiplayer, Due in 2H 2022 - Wccftech

Hogwarts Legacy was originally scheduled to be released in 2021, but it was delayed very early, on January 13th, to 2022. Now, according to leaker AccNGT (who provided advance information on Quantic Dream's Star Wars Eclipse game ahead of the official reveal), the current release window is set for the second half of the year, with the developers focused on writing only minor parts of the game. Hogwarts Legacy will also include some form of multiplayer, even though it may be added with a post-launch update. Still, this shouldn't be considered a game as a service title.

Quote:

When playing games in first person view, some of you may experience something called “simulator sickness”. Originally this subset of the motion sickness was discovered when training pilots. Scientists – after researching this sickness – found two plausible theories: a sensory conflict or a postural instability, a balance disorder. Whatever the reason behind, the effects are the same: vertigo, nausea, disorientation, or discomfort. To ensure that everyone can enjoy Medieval Dynasty to the best extent possible, we are now introducing the Third Person View as an optional feature. .

FFVII Performance Issues Theory - BlueNews
Quote:

As Digital Foundry’s Alex Battaglia calls it, Final Fantasy VII Remake “is literally the worst AAA release I have seen on PC in a good long time”. Massive stuttering issues, framerate drops, and the lack of crucial graphics settings like anti-aliasing or toggles for pretty much any option to improve performance all mar the experience.

Worse still, these issues may be down to something modders digging into the game’s files have discovered – which is that the build of Final Fantasy VII Remake on PC seems to be a debug version rather than a version ready for shipping. The files refer to the released version as a “PPBC_Development” build when it should be “PPBC_Shipping” for a final, polished release.

George R.R. Martin Talks about Elden Ring - Blog Post
Quote:

A few years back, Hidetaka Miyazaki and his incredible team of game designers, the creators of the DARK SOULS videogame series, reached out from Japan to ask me to help them create the backstory and history for a new game they were working on. Now, video games are not really my thing — oh, I played a few back in the dawn of time, mainly strategy games like RAILROAD TYCOON, ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS, and MASTER OF ORION — but this offer was too exciting to refuse. Miyazaki and his team from FromSoftware were doing groundbreaking stuff with gorgeous art, and what they wanted from me was just a bit of worldbuilding: a deep, dark, resonant world to serve as a foundation for the game they planned to create. And as it happens, I love creating worlds and writing imaginary history.

So I did my bit, and handed off to my new friends in Japan, and they took it from there. And years passed. Videogames are as big as movies these days (bigger, actually)… and take just as long to create. But the day of ELDEN RING is finally at hand. And I’ve got to say, it looks incredible.

And you can zoom/rotate the character, to take a better look at your gear.
