ToCS3 is playstation exclusive

For whatever reason, localization is given to NIS instead of XSeed although XSeed made the best jrpg PC ports ever while NIS completely screwed Ys8 and more.

If anyone wants to preorder the super duper $100 worth package, go here:

Now lemme please go vomit.

Carnifex January 17th, 2019 21:16

What the fork…..well, I'll just have to hope it eventually comes to the computers via great old games or steam at some point. It will likely take at least a year though, if not longer. And what insane person gave the localization duties to NIS over XSeed, that person should be fired nowish.

Couchpotato January 17th, 2019 21:17

Stupid move to release Trails of Cold Steel III only on consoles.

I just bought the first two on a Steam sale last month.:(

HiddenX January 17th, 2019 21:37

I like Trails of Cold Steel I & II, but I don't buy a console for part III.

PS:
No news coverage from me until they annouce a PC version. :(

Carnifex January 17th, 2019 23:26

Same here, I'm not buying a console simply to play the bloody last game in the series. I'll be hoping for a computer version down the road, but failing that, I've plenty of games to keep me entertained.

Ripper January 18th, 2019 03:19

Didn't all of these get released on console first, before finally staggering onto the PC?

Yes but they sold well on the PC. I will never understand developers always pushing back the PC ports of their JRPGs in favor of handhelds or consoles first.:(

Anyway the implied "Exclusively to PlayStation®4 in Fall 2019" sounds like no PC release is planned. Then again it could be another case of a 2-3 year wait for a PC release.

Sure you will! Console is just 1 hardware with the least piracy. PC is lots of configurations with varying performance. Takes much longer to optimise games for all PC gpus.

So the answer is time and money.

That old excuse does not work for me sorry. For the older console generation sure but not nowadays. As every console is basically a PC so cross development is easier.

Also you can port a game with a click of a button with most modern engines. So yes not that easy as work is still required after that but it's not time consuming, or to expensive.

Japanese developers have always shunned the PC. It wasn't until Steam showed them they can make money off games if ported correctly. Only took them over thirty years.

SirJames January 18th, 2019 07:08

Oh. Well, if you work it out let me know. :)

Couchpotato January 18th, 2019 07:19

I will thanks should have remembered not to reply to you.

Have fun playing Monster Hunter.:)

SirJames January 18th, 2019 07:29

It appears that you're upset? What's the problem?

Couchpotato January 18th, 2019 07:45

Nothing just realizing my reply wasn't worth the effort and the discussion will go nowhere. So nothing personal really as If I was mad I wouldn't post a smiley face.

SirJames January 18th, 2019 07:48

@Couchpotato Not replying, huh? Why are you so fucking unstable? You got issues, man. You'd make a fantastic raging SJW screaming at the sky.

Change your diet, get some exercise, get off the PC and go for a walk. Couch potatoes are unhealthy as fuck. Healthy body; healthy mind.

You say you don't know a question that a million devs have answered so I tell you. It turns out you do know you just refuse to accept it. What do you want me to do? Write a page to convince you? If you come up with a better idea let me know. What's the problem?

Seriously, you're so fucking uncool sometimes I just don't get it. You embarrass yourself with your out of control emotions.

Couchpotato January 18th, 2019 07:52

See your reply proves my point. Good day sir.:)

SirJames January 18th, 2019 07:55

And you appearing offline permanently proves my point. You're online so often you're embarrassed about it.

Get off the couch, potato.

SirJames January 18th, 2019 08:28

Alright, here's an idea. I'll reply like you do. Experience it.

I should have remembered to not reply to you. :)

Bit of a dick reply, yeah? Do you see?

Couchpotato January 18th, 2019 08:34

So back on topic here is the games English announcement trailer.

SirJames January 18th, 2019 09:19

I have an aunt who can't apologise. She just moves on. All things considered, I'll accept it.

I understand you're relatively new to this site but you should have learned to respect other users by now.

Don't remember not to reply; remember to reply thoughtfully.

Couchpotato January 18th, 2019 09:28

Enough already just move on but apparently you can't.

Six posts just to criticize my three.

Now I remember why I hate replying to you in the first place.

Have to remember this for future threads.:(

SirJames January 18th, 2019 09:46

That was me moving on.

You started it.

What did you remember? Why do you hate replying to me?

Ok, how about you show me what I should have said. Write me the ideal reply.

I say "PC has more configs"
you say "That excuse doesn't work for me"
Now I should have said…..???

SirJames January 18th, 2019 10:18

I'll bet you can't even think up what reply you wanted, can you?

Look, it takes a big man to apologise. What's stopping you? Pride? I wouldn't be proud of a passive aggressive attitude towards people offering you knowledge you claimed not to possess.

I didn't leave in the middle of our conversation. I tied it up quickly and respectfully. I displayed that I valued your opinion enough to want to hear any future theories and then you rudely started a NEW topic which was a personal attack against me then say its nothing personal? When I question you about it you try to change the subject?

You're the one with the problem. What's your problem? Are you afraid the answer would make you look bad? Speak up.

henriquejr January 18th, 2019 13:45

How can you just leave me standing?
Alone in a world that's so cold
Maybe I'm just too demanding
Maybe I'm just like my father too bold
Maybe you're just like my mother
She's never satisfied
Why do you scream at each other?
This is what it sounds like when doves cry.

Prince - When Doves Cry

SirJames January 18th, 2019 17:04

lol. @henriquejr He's gone to bed, man. :P

I'm just giving him the drama he wants. He's so bored. :)

joxer June 11th, 2019 14:47

From E3:

- NIS America announced the Trails of Cold Steel III will release September 24 in North America, September 27 in Europe, and October 4 in Australia and New Zealand for the PlayStation 4.

Not being able to tell everyone "Let's Do This" breaks my heart.

Carnifex June 11th, 2019 18:54

I'll just have to hope that part three makes its was to great old games or steam in the next few years. The first two games were soooooo good!!!!!

Hexprone June 11th, 2019 19:05

They know they'll make money on PC. It'll just take a year or so to get to us so they can make Sony happy by keeping it platform-exclusive at release.

Yep most big names JRPG's get ported 2-4 years after the console release.

Also given the series has sold well on the PC that's a plus also.:)

Carnifex June 12th, 2019 02:24

I can easily wait, as I see it the passing time will just give us a cleaner release, when it happens. I'll likely amuse myself by replaying all those games again sometime in the near future, even the prior series.

joxer January 21st, 2020 16:14

The thread title is going to be incorrect in a couple of months, yay!

The latest localized entry in the Trails series is getting a PC release.

At PAX South 2020, NIS America announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III will be coming to Steam and GOG. Users who purchase the game on PC before March 30 will receive 26 pieces of free cosmetic DLC.

The PC version will also support up to 240 FPS, fully customizable keybindings, ultrawide screen support, up to 8x multisample anti-aliasing, unlimited draw distance, and a new autosave functionality.
I hated final part of the second game (grind to the point of driving the player insane), but I have to hope they didn't repeat the same filler patheticness so of course I'm buying!

Carnifex January 21st, 2020 16:19

That is excellent news, I'm so happy that this part will not only be available for our computers, but soon!!! Cold Steel is such a wonderful series, I might even schedule a replay of the prior two games and then make my purchase of the third. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this upcoming product turns out to be my game of the year!!

I won't play the demo as I'm definelty buying this.

EDIT:
Watched that vid, now I'm even more determined.
A game contains a new CCG, yay! Also, spot the mushrooms mappings, wasd and LM/RM/tab/e - someone finally understood that ijkl is plain idiocy!

Carnifex March 10th, 2020 16:04

This is a no brainer for me, the first two games are excellent so of course I'll have to see what happens next. Quite likely a day one purchase for me, the very moment it's available for the computer.

joxer March 10th, 2020 17:07

My plan is to start it the very day of release.
Means expect some early input. Hopefully I'll be able to blather about something fresh for series, I mean, no use to repeat again that music is awsome when in all previous LoH games already is.

Carnifex March 10th, 2020 17:19

I might buy on day one but I certainly won't play on the first day. I've learned that lesson the seriously hard day, and kudos to those that are braver than I!!

joxer April 2nd, 2020 22:29

Finished.
Some characters presumably dead are back. Some, you'd never guess who, will die.
Storywise briliant, gamewise toned down the horrible last chapter from ToCS2.
So many new info is revealed, so many intrigues addresses, so many masks fallen and yet - it's not an end. I wish ToCS4 was available to jump in right away. On that matter I'll open another thread.

Still too much timewaste to get nauseaus while turning every nook and cranny, can't believe I missed a chest (didn't get that achievement), but managed to discover all character entries.

If you loved ToCS1, despised ToCS2's last grind-o-rama chapter and if you loved Berseria story - you'll adore ToCS3.
In such case it's a mustbuy.
In any other case… Well I guess our taste differs. :)

txa1265 April 3rd, 2020 18:13

Excellent - thanks for follow-up. Looking forward to June 30 for the Switch version!

Carnifex April 5th, 2020 18:47

Yup, very busy in EQ2 now these days but when I do have a chance I will likely replay all three of these in one go. Thanks for the review!

Couchpotato June 24th, 2020 18:29

The Trails of Cold Steel IV translated console release is in October.

A PC release is more then likely a year later.

joxer June 24th, 2020 21:56

ToCS4 has it's own thread :p
