Aprilfools?

Archangel April 1st, 2019 11:45

That was part of the beta patch notes as well.

Andrew23 April 1st, 2019 11:50

Nice list of improvements and repairs. Already looking forward to my next replay later this year. Nevertheless, I have to mention that last week I winished my first complete playthrough and I didnt encounter any serious problems (including last chapters).

Ripper April 1st, 2019 12:59

What's an "ASUS Aura integration"?

Some ASUS products have RGB lighting, that can be synched with software to what is happening on screen.

Yepp. I have an ASUS soundcard and GPU, with nice flashing colours, which I can watch through the window in my HAF cabinet. If I choose to watch the cabinet (under my table) in stead of my monitors. Which I don't. But I know it's there.

pibbur who knows this is important to some gamers.

Ripper April 1st, 2019 14:24

Ah, I see. Thanks. I knew about the fondness for coloured lights, but I didn't know games interacted with them. A feature sadly wasted on me, as my PCs live in a room with other noisy things, and I run cables through the wall to my office/den. Because that's the sort of thing I like to get up to.

Carnifex April 1st, 2019 14:57

Hopefully this patch is getting things closer to a final completion stage. Still looking forward to getting back to this game sometime soon!

Irien April 1st, 2019 15:45

I suspect aura sync lighting extends to keyboards, mice and monitor LED lighting. The latter could be used akin to Philips old "Ambi-light" system. Essentially, the game can control the "mood lighting" coming from your monitor/peripherals.

Ripper April 1st, 2019 16:19

I'm not too interested in glowing peripherals, but I guess adjustable mood lighting in the room could be interesting.

rjshae April 1st, 2019 18:11

April fools.

Ripper April 1st, 2019 18:24

I dunno. As it seems to be a real thing, doesn't seem like a great April Fools to announce it as a feature.

ilm April 1st, 2019 19:05

Not a bad idea. Just like 4D cinemas, we will soon have 4D games? With real rain, movable chair, etc.

You might think twice before buying a game with a weather system, or plays in constant darkness. I'll stick with a philips ambilight monitor (or asus twinkling lights) ;)

Couchpotato April 1st, 2019 19:05

Don' think patch 1.3 is available on GOG yet. It was in Beta on Steam so this is not an April Fools joke. Anyway GOG always gets patches a few days after Steam.:(

What an odd feature. Who's looking at their PC components while they're gaming?

joxer April 1st, 2019 22:46

What do you mean who? Couch coops and ghosts who enter the man cave noone is normally allowed into! :D
Or, if it's laptop, well… Student campus will either think it's raz or will call you a weirdo. Troll's paradise.

Btw my Gainward GPU has LEDs and it's so distracting I've disabled that annoying crap. That's why I thought this feature in the patch is aprilfools.

I would probably do the same. :)

Stingray April 1st, 2019 23:01

Unnecessary lights are nothing but distracting, no clue why anyone would want them. My case has no windows but the LEDs on my motherboard are disabled so they don't shine out the back, my keyboard/mouse have no lights, and I even have the HDD LED disabled on my case - it's just pointless flicker.

purpleblob April 2nd, 2019 00:09

I'm also waiting on the third DLC to drop before I proceed on further with 4th play through :)

Hey welcome back, pibbur!! :D

joxer April 2nd, 2019 00:17

What 3rd DLC now?
Are they normal?!

purpleblob April 2nd, 2019 00:24

? What do you mean "are they normal"?

The third DLC is called "Beneath the Stolen Lands", planned to be released in April :)

Let me put it in Joxer language.

They pulled an EA and offered a dreaded season pass.

azarhal April 2nd, 2019 00:58

On the subject of LEDs , my Logitech 13 LCD does flashes and/or change colors based on the game I'm playing. It can also display information. For example, when I played GW2 is can show character health/energy stats or map completions.

I usually try to keep the display on the clock, knowing what time it is while I'm playing something is the only reasons I look at it. It's not even in my field of vision otherwise.

Not only that - what's the point of even starting the game unless DLC is not happening after the game ends or is standalone (previous DLC were not).

I'm saying - this is either retarded or de facto a design crime:

I'm not sorry for voting P:K on goty poll - we were voting games, not DLC.
But if we were voting DLC, this one messing the main game, would be instadisqualified on my side. Disgusting.

 Yes, the game was released a little too early but the issues are all resolved now.

The point is the base game is extremely fun and with more DLCs, your replays become even more interesting! ;) You don't want to do any replays? Well, then wait until all DLCs are released. I for one already finished the game twice and enjoyed the hell out of it :D And the third DLC can be played as part of the main game or as a standalone - apparently, you get to choose :)

EDIT: joxer, no one is forcing you to buy the DLC… :) Varnhold's Lot has it's standalone portion which can be imported to the main game.

So, you can:
1. Not buy DLC
2. Buy DLC and play the standalone portion only
3. Buy DLC, play the standalone portion then import it to the main game.

You have choices, so I don't understand what is the issue here :)

joxer April 2nd, 2019 01:38

Oh I won't wait for the third DLC:

DLC 3
Beneath The Stolen Lands
April, 2019*

A new game mode. Sometimes you want to play a story with memorable characters, rich lore, and a complicated set of choices and consequences. But then there are days when you just want to grab a sword, cast some spells, and destroy a horde of monsters! This DLC will introduce a rogue-like randomly generated endless dungeon, complete with a new unique boss. You can explore it in a separate game, or as a part of your main campaign. How deep can you go?
Dice roll to pwn the player? Mhm… Get off my property.

purpleblob April 2nd, 2019 01:40

I'm not too big fan of the random generated endless dungeon myself but I got the season pass as part of my kickstarter package so I will wait for it anyway :D

Andrew23 April 2nd, 2019 10:53

Usually I avoid games with procedurally generated content. But I will make exception and will buy and try it. The base game provided such insane amount of entertainment to me, I anyway feel I owe them. :-)

Hastar April 2nd, 2019 12:27

I'm just the opposite. This will be the best DLC released because I can try out all the classes now and with many different builds. Can I play this endless dungeon without kingdom management? Greatest DLC ever :)

joxer April 2nd, 2019 13:23

I thought you can do that in the previous DLC too - the difference is it wasn't roguelike.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of purely procedurally-generated games, but as an addon that provides endless variety for keen players when they've beaten the game, I think it's a pretty good idea.

Zloth April 3rd, 2019 03:21

Randomly generated dungeons… anyone remember the old "solo AD&D" rules from back in the first generation of the game?
