Nee, nee, nee: klote! ;)

For those having put these two lines in Google Translate and still do not understand:
Kut = part of the female genitals,
Klote= part of the male genitals.

Both normal expressions in my country btw to say it sucks.

When I enter it into Google Translate it says: "actually it just sucks that you stop". Is that close?

Eye May 8th, 2022 17:04

Literally translated: 'actually it is just cunt that you stop'.
Which sounds really vulgar, but even members of the cabinet or parliament use it.
And 'klote', comes from 'kloten', which means 'balls', 'testicles'. Also used by everyone.

Everything can be balls. :) Your mood, your day, the weather. And cunt of course.
When you are really disliking it.

Maximous May 8th, 2022 17:14

Very sad, very sad news, news that affects us all. May your next endeavor be as successful as RPG Watch!

Sir_Brennus May 8th, 2022 17:29

I am still lost for words. I was a Rpgdot lurker back in the day and when I discovered the Watch when the former place went downhill it was one of the greatest days of my gaming career. So many decent, interested and well informed people. Those were rare back then and are even more rare today.

I was with the Codex and NMA for some time, but these places are toxic and alter your state of mind in a very, very disturbing way. That is why this place is so great: We have Mercy and Alrik Fassbauer in the same thread and noone disrespects one or the other. This can't happen on the Codex or NMA at any given time. So sad.

I'd like to thank everyone involved and especially Myrthos for creating something so worthy of praise. Seems that our watch has finally ended…

Redglyph May 8th, 2022 18:12

A random thought: if the RPGWatch survives and moves to somewhere else in another form, make sure the current email of your account here is still valid.

In the most likely scenario, the accounts will be transferred along with the content, and everyone will receive an email to connect to the new site and enter a new password (it's very unlikely that the passwords can be transferred).

RikusTyr May 8th, 2022 18:15

Myrthos… Thank You for RPGWatch!

would be great. if cryptos boom, i will make a big donation!

showtime May 8th, 2022 18:52

Been here only for few years, but will miss it a lot.
News were presented as I like it. Without too much video and to the point.
Rpgwatchers were mostly mature and had taste in games just as me, so I knew that whatever they liked is something worth playing.
So where now to get good info on games and that it is not some site full of kids that best RPG is GTA 5 or something. :(

Terry May 8th, 2022 19:30

You are right Showtime it's going to be a real challenge to find another place that caters to the older gamer.

Kordanor May 8th, 2022 19:39

Yeah, it's basically the combination of:
PC Focused
RPG Focused
+ some decent etquiquette

If you leave any one of these points, you can find alternatives.

Alrik Fassbauer May 8th, 2022 20:03

As I said, the DGVSO https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genera…ion_Regulation killed a LOT of forums - and in that, it rather helped te "big boys" out there.

The only other alternative would be to get good folks who are both able and willing to keep the Watch running.

I don't know if I'd volunteer … I hade been a moderator for years (before I came to the Watch) until I burned out on that role myself, and do not wish to do this again.

I could help apart from that, though, if needed.

Centaur May 8th, 2022 20:58

A Big Thanks for RPGWatch. For everything.

Back those years, I had a slower internet connection and this site has been always super fast and super easy to understand.

While it looks like an isolated case, I'm afraid this isn't. The indie scene has a graceful but unavoidable decline. (I wrote more about this in the Black Geyser thread BTW.)

There might be a new site but it will never be RPGWatch again. Take care!

Eye May 8th, 2022 21:25

@Centaur. You meant RPGWatch in your last sentence I guess. I presume you were not able to edit your post, having only two posts. And I am pretty sure you still are not able to do that now. Do you wish me to edit it?

Daddy-Far May 8th, 2022 21:35

I’m not much of a poster but have lurked on a number of sites including RPGDot and RPGWatch but felt moved to thank Myrthos and the team for their dedication and diligence in bringing us the latest crpg news - RPGWatch has been my go to site for many years. I hope a way to continue the site is found.

screeg May 8th, 2022 21:56

AIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeee!!!!!!!!!!!

(And thank you so much for what you've done here. I completely understand your decision.)

Gokyabgu May 8th, 2022 22:30

This is so sad. It has been my number one site since 2006 and RPGDot before that. Thank you very much for your dedication and work over all those years Myrthos. You and RPGDot will be missed dearly. :(

Rook May 8th, 2022 22:35

Im new around here, but was happily donating. I saw the donation was cut a couple days ago. Thanks to everyone for making this a great site. Live long and prosper!

Yes please thank you. It was meant to be RPGWatch.

KaosWarMonk May 9th, 2022 01:33

Pretty bummed about this. I visit a couple of times a day. Appreciate the info and overall level of civility.

Thanks to Myrthos and others involved.

Hope there can be somewhere to migrate to.

BrianOConnell May 9th, 2022 02:17

Sorry to hear this. I don't really post anymore. Never did that much anyway but I think a site like Rpg Watch badly needs to exist. I'm not down with the cool kids. Been a web developer in my career for 25 years but using evil Microsoft products so I won't offer my services. Although I would happily help in any way including financial.

They Live May 9th, 2022 09:57

my profile says 2015 but was a lurker before that, it is a routine to check rpgwatch as soon as i start my pc.
You will be missed. For real.

Reiga May 9th, 2022 10:33

OMG! I'm so sorry to hear this. But I understand, I also quit from rpgdot when I was tired of it, but never stoped reading you guys, rpgdot and after that rpgwatch

Is this site disapears a part of my life will be gone as well.

The best to you, Moriendor and Garrett, if he is still around or you can contact him, from your old teammate Arkray.

Thanks for all these years.

a part of your life.. indeed, same applies for me, well said!

Andrew23 May 9th, 2022 11:43

I will also miss this site. With regard to gaming, RPGWatch was my main source of information since I found it. Over time I started to participate in discussions and its the only place I do that. Thanks for all that.

gulla May 9th, 2022 12:14

:end: :raincloud: :bigcry:
Good luck going forward Myrthos and other admins. And thanks for many years of good information. Now, where to go for news :-/

Maylander May 9th, 2022 13:11

Well, shit.

HiddenX May 9th, 2022 13:16

There are still some options left that we can keep RPGWatch alive somehow.
Here's one for example. Let's hope :)

Yes please! If RPGWatch dissapears, where will I and Avellone read our RPG news?!

RPGWatch was like the Keep on the Borderlands for me. On the edge of the internet protecting the masses from the forces of chaos. The trolls and bugbears are gathering their forces.

HELHERRON! Link in my signature, leading you to semi-frequent updates. Last classic version on the net is the 2004 one. Best played on a Linux virtual machine. I even posted a fix for the last map - when you descend to the demon realm to kill the Boss - I think on one of the Abandonia sites. There was one letter in the name of the hell-map [it has a short obscure name] that was misspelled by the dev. Simply fixing the filename of that last map allowed me to walk down the stairs - the game now successfully could find and load the map and I won the game. Played it three times from beginning to end.. around 2004.

Ripper May 9th, 2022 13:24

I would just say to people who are really bummed out by this news - don't be. One way or another this will be sorted out, and I suspect sooner rather than later. The Watch, or some evolution of it, will continue.

We got so famous in Hungary with Hardwired (invited as VIPs at press conferences at various dev companies, we got presents, etc..) that I got hired by Most Wanted in 2007. I'm sitting at my desk working like crazy - trying not to get fired in a heated work environment - when my colleagues start complaining that their favorite gaming news website - Hardwired - now has less news postings than usual. :D All my energy was spent on my new gamedev job. Crashing at home I had little fuel left to write any gaming news articles, but that was how developers in my country found their daily fun. :D

We'll never give up on the Watch! :)

I think it would also be great for Myrthos to know that the site he created and spent so much time on continues to live (as well as for the other team mates who have been there for so long).

Yeah, I really hated to see some of the responses in this thread, even if I've not really been enjoying the Watch as much recently. I'd still like to know the Watchers are there, happily doing their thing.

I'm waiting for a while to see if anything gets officially sorted out, which I think it will, but if that doesn't materialise, I shall activate The Machine… :p

wiretripped May 9th, 2022 14:40

Awww, damn. I can't tell you how sad this makes me. I was a lurker at the 'Dot but then moved here and decided to register, and never left. I check this website multiple times a day, browse through the forums and such…
Where will I get my RPG news now? Like many others said, it's like losing a beloved friend. Hopefully in some shape or form we can keep it alive.

Either way, I will echo everyone else and extend my heartfelt appreciation for all Myrthos and others have done to maintain and keep this place afloat for so many years. It has been a refuge for me, a safe haven, for a large part of my life and it shall be sorely missed should it be gone.

Good because I don't like saying goodbyes :)

SveNitoR May 9th, 2022 14:55

For people who are not aware, there's a discussion going on in the RPGwatch subforum about possibly starting a new site, if a sale/transfer of the site isn't possible.

Anyone interested in (possibly) helping out, can go look there :)
