Any experience with Key-Remapping Programs ? /Problems with GTA IV and Dead Space…

Hello,

As I finished fallout 3 I still have two non-RPGs I wanted to play: 1. Dead Space and 2. GTA IV. However in both of these games it is not possible to exchange the WASD Keys for my beloved Arrow Keys…….

So I skimmed through the Internet and looked for Alternatives and I found that some people used Keymapping Programs which could allow me to switch the WASD Scheme to the arrow Scheme, however some people complained about these programs "disrupting" there OS….

So what I am asking is if anyone out there has experience with these kind of programs and could recommend me one or if there is an alternative in these two games (e.g. modifying the ini…)….

Thanks in advance,
L.

You've come to the right place :). I had a huge problem with the way Dead Space wouldn't allow me to remap the WASD setup to the numberpad.

GlovePIE is the program I used to get around it.

Unlike a lot of Keymapping Programs, GlovePIE doesn't require you to reboot your computer every time you activate it. You can create as many scripts as you like, and de\activate them within a few seconds. It's pretty easy to use, and I've never had any problems with it (OS, ect….).

Hello JDR,

First of all thanks for answering. I tried your recommended Program and constructed a Script like this:

Key.Up = Keyboard.W
Key.Left = Keyboard.A
Key.Right = Keyboard.D
Key.Down = Keyboard.S

However I tried it in GTA and it doesn`t work….. also, If i try it out i Word for example it still writes W, a, s , d but it also emulates the arrow keys with a small latency….

Could you help me out ?

Cheers,
L.

I can't help you specifically with GTA IV because I am not yet familiar with that game. I used GlovePIE with Dead Space and it work flawlessly.

Another program you can try is Autohotkey.

Hey JDR.

Thansk again for the fast reply. I googled a little and found someone elses Script for Dead Space:

key.w = key.Up
key.a = key.Left
key.s = key.Down
key.d = key. Right
key.e = key.RightShift
key.leftshift = key. RightControl

I tried it i Dead Space and GTA IV and it WORKS…. Yippie !!

Thanks again.
L.
