Obsidian doing Fallout Game

I don't have the time to funk around with the db atm but Kotaku have some interesting news here.

Maylander April 20th, 2009 16:06

Yes, I also stumbled upon this just now on the homepage of a Norwegian newspaper. The title is Fallout New Vegas, and it's not related to FO3 at all.

Very interested in hearing about it, especially since Obsidian is involved, so if anyone manages to dig up some more information, I would greatly appreciate it (as would a lot of people around here I suppose).

Kostas April 20th, 2009 16:08

Isn't Obsidian founded by some guys from Black Isle?
If that's correct the news are great.

woges April 20th, 2009 16:18

Well PH said this:

"It is not a sequel to Fallout 3," Hines said. "It's simply another Fallout game in that universe." It will be the same sort of role-playing game experience seen in Fallout 3, he said.

If that means it's running on the same engine or not I'm unsure.

edit:

MCV confirms that it will be on the same engine.

It's called Fallout New Vegas. Talk about a shitty name. But I'm mildly interested since it's Obsidian. Too bad they lost the Alien rpg. :(

Krzychu April 20th, 2009 17:43

I just saw this.

That is certainly… unexpected.

magerette April 20th, 2009 18:04

I saw it also before I read this thread--it's posted on the front page now.

cptmaxon April 20th, 2009 21:41

lol would you rather fallout new reno? I miss the biggest little city in the world.
wonder how many ideas they'll rip off good ole FO2 plot wise

Corwin April 21st, 2009 02:40

Maybe we'll see some of the ideas from the 'original' F3.

Thoth April 21st, 2009 03:04

Maybe they can manage to make dialogue that lasts more then three sentences. I actually don't mind Obsidian, but I don't know… New Vegas? Sounds like we'll see some gambling mini-games… which actually doesn't sound THAT bad compared to lockpick and science minigames from F3.

Corwin April 21st, 2009 06:42

Hey, gambling mini-games would probably attract extra sales; if you don't like rpg's, play in the casino and think of it as an arcade type game!! :)

human_male April 21st, 2009 23:40

Sounds great. I can't get enough post apocalyptic gaming. Especially role playing.

Alrik Fassbauer April 22nd, 2009 20:17

I'd like to see an post-apocalyptic setting featuring dwarves & elves !
