Fallout was originally going to be a GURPs game but it fell through so they made their own SPECIAL system.

I have no anecdotes to justify Disco Elysium or Pillars on that list though.

Re: storytelling vs. Witcher 3.

I'd say that the central story in Cyberpunk 2077 is *better* than Witcher 3's, but keep in mind that's only 15-20 hours of content. Where the Witcher 3 shines is…

I've got a 1080Ti and did the memory tweak linked earlier, it runs smooth even with a lot going on.

Assuming technical specs aren't an issue for you, "playable" is based on your tolerance for…

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

As always I appreciate anything, not looking for anything in particular.

(Surprised there's this many Watchers who don't already own Cyberpunk!)

Underrail has the distinction of being my most played game on Steam, and that doesn't count the (embarrassing amount of) hours I spent just fiddling in the character planner. I even own a second…

I played through Wasteland 3 on launch, so I'd say I have a medium tolerance for bugs. The only thing that "bugged" me was the load times, which I hear have since been patched.

I'm not opposed to…

That sounds pretty great actually.

The only thing that makes me hesitate is that everyone raved about DOS2 and I merely found it "just okay." Larian's sense of humor tends to ruin my immersion…

I enjoyed Torchlight 1 well enough, the sequel had a harder time getting hooks into me. Not sure why, but it just didn't.

Word on Torchlight 3 is that its twice the price of 2, and not nearly as…

Baldur's Gate 3, Watcher Early Access Impressions

Surprised there already isn't a thread for this. Maybe I missed one somewhere else?

I've already got a backlog of games so I don't need to *immediately* jump into this, especially at the $60…

Pathfinder: Kingmaker captures the charm of the Baldur's Gate games in ways that many of the "spiritual successors" failed to. Why is this so? I honestly can't say. They had less money, way more…

Other quibbles aside, and assuming this patch didn't introduce new issues, the loading times were probably my only *real* complaint so I would say now is the time to jump in if you've been waiting…

But is the moment to moment action actually challenging with this re-release? Or is it the same braindead, everything dies merely looking at it sideways I remember? I couldn't finish the original…
