I played the board game, and logistics aside it's a great game. I played the PC game on EA a LONG time ago and I found it difficult not having the cards in front of me to study and properly plan….

I'd say a very good and very fair review.

It's worth noting that Solasta does a very good job of implementing 5E, although it's not perfect.

5E is nowhere near as complex as pathfinder. It's not Solasta… I believe 3.5 is the only true D&D version that comes close. My understanding is that pathfinder fans think of pathfinder as D&D 3.75

This game is definitely not for everyone. If you play CRPGs for the story, I'd skip this one. If you want a great pc version of D&D tabletop mechanics though…this is the best since TOEE.

This review pretty much sums up my impressions of Solasta. It's likely a game anyone who is into turn-based or D&D will like. If you're into both…you'll likely love it, like me!

The game is far…

Procedurally generated is perhaps misleading. In any given scenario there may be 30 (I'm making this number up) events that might happen. Only 10 (once again I'm making the number up) may actually…

I enjoyed this a lot during the early stages of early access. I'd say I got a good 20 hours of fun out of it. I'm looking forward to playing the full release.

For those interested in tactical…

There's the answer! I had no clue what 2E was. I played from about age 8-25 (mostly AD&D but some basic early on). I restarted about 5 years ago with 5E. 5E is the best D&D PnP I've ever played, then…

I played AD&D in the 80s. I really don't recall weapon specialization. Perhaps those were from some of the boxed sets that came out in the 90s? Or maybe I missed it.

Anyway, from a nostalgia…

I too prefer the first one, but I can no longer get it to work. It's a great ruleset for a CRPG as its relatively complex. I can't imagine playing this PnP.

3E is more complex that 5E, but I don't think 2E (I assume this means Advanced Dungeons and Dragons) is more complex than 5E. Or did you mean something else when you said bare?

There must be something wrong with me. I tried playing W3 3-4 times but just couldn't get into it. I felt like I was watching a movie and then once the game finally started I'd quit after 5-10…

I wouldn't worry about the timers, they give you PLENTY of time. Also, this is the part that originally scared me from the game (I hate timers) as I too would normally stress out about them. They…

Are you saying this is how BG3 will work or how 5e D&D works? I play 5e and the player characters all roll separately. NPCs use a shared initiative by "monster" type though. So it is possible some…

It doesn't "look" like a BG game to me and being turn-based doesn't seem "right" either….I really don't care though. I'm happy to get any new party-based CRPG that is well done.

As a D&D nerd,…

In re to these discussions on spell-casting, I have to admit that RTWP did alter the way I played PF:KM with magic-using characters. I tended rely on buff…
