I like the portraits a lot, but the actual monsters have a cheap Flash game vibe. They've also got some palette issues, in that enemies and friendlies seem identical or at least too similar.

It's almost a truism that for indie devs sequels, regardless of the original game, show hugely diminishing returns. BS2 was a major drop from BS1. I'm really curious how they'll do with the third one.

I never played the other games but it sounds like SS suffers from similar problems, as well as extreme sequel fatigue. The low number of reviews plus recent layoffs is not a good look for the company.
