Oddly, I think that monsters lack variety and as a result, T2's combat is too tedious and shallow. They have used various 3D models to hide the fact that monster types are so limited. Most monsters (kangaroo mouse and cockroach, for example) are exactly the same, their only difference is their 3D model. This is a cheap way to trick people into thinking that they are fighting different monsters, while there are not more than 10 types of monsters in the entire game. Torchlight II is a sea, with a maximum depth of 1 centimeter.
