Eurogamer talked to CD Project about the released intro cinematic for the Enhanced Edition.
Apparently it cost a lot:
That very lovely Witcher 2 intro cinematic - the one with the bloke on the boat and the blood - was the "most expensive asset we ever created", developer CD Projekt Red told Eurogamer.
Said studio managing director Adam Badowski: "It was a huge budget. But we probably can't tell how big."
Pretending we didn't hear, we pressed him. Half as much as the Xbox 360 project cost - a full year's wage for a full team of developers?
"No, no!" denied Badowski. "But it was a significant part."
"For sure that was the most expensive asset we ever created," chimed head of marketing Michal Platkow-Gilewski.
CD Projekt Red press-released the lavish cinematic, and was quick to announce that more than one million people had watched it.
In other Witcher 2 EE news a trailer has been released on youtube to promote the EE for this game.
More information.

An XBox is basically a scaled down pc when it comes to programming. Not the same for PS3.

I'm glad the investment was made for the cinematic - it should help immensely with awareness come April.

I'm quite aware that getting a ps3 port would be a lot more expensive than the xbox port, but I have a hard time believing that one is worth the investment while the other isn't.
You also have to take into account that most ports are made for the box first, porting a box game to a modern pc is a relatively straightforward process, the other way around doesn't have to be. Going by the witcher 2's performance and min requirements that vastly outdo what you could squeeze out of an xbox and recent interviews on the work they've done porting, it sounds like it's a lot more work than just scaling it down, sounds like they're completely rewriting components and possibly changing the architecture. In that case the traditional argument of xbox<-> pc easy vs ps3 being a pain doesn't apply as much, they're both a pain.

If other AAA rpgs are anything to go by they stand to sell 7-9 times more on the consoles than on the pc. At least a million sales on the ps3 which would be some fairly safe 16 million euros for CDProj minimum.
Even if they don't have any competent polish ps3 engineers/programmers and don't want to outsource it after the rise of the white wolf fiasco…with that kind of money at stake they might as well have a team of foreign ps3 specialists work in-house at cdproj.

I'm not saying this because I want a ps3 version(never touched these consoles) I just want them to capitalize as much as they can on their quality work instead of going belly up.

The PS3 simply has the wrong target audience geographically. The X360 is the best-selling console 2011 in the western world, while it is without any significance in the east. If you do a PS3 port you must be convinced that the majority of the Japanese audience is interested.

The IP is unknown in Japan and the interest in WRPGs equals zero.

A port would'nt have been a good investment.

Actually, counting both Europe and the US, the PS3 and X360 are about equal, with the PS3 having a strong lead in Europe: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Console_wars#Worldwide_sales_figures_6
